Child Immigration....

Immigration has always been a contentious issue in the United States. But the current crisis reached a boiling point last week in Murrieta, California, when angry protesters successfully turned away three buses of undocumented immigrants being taken to a border patrol post there.

The residents were upset because they don’t want their tax dollars supporting the recent wave of undocumented minors who have been streaming across the border. Over the last nine months, more than 52,000 unaccompanied children have entered the U.S. illegally, and they’re burdening an already burdened system.

Most of these children are coming from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, and some of the children making the dangerous journey have been toddlers.

Border patrol stations are backed up, so thousands of kids are being sent to detention centers on military bases. Even a warehouse in Arizona has been converted into a holding facility.

So why are they coming? And why aren’t they being turned away immediately? No matter where you stand on the immigration issue or this current crisis, hopefully after watching this you’ll be able to say, ‘Now I Get It."

Also, some of those poor children don't even survive the border crossing. They've been finding bodies in the wilderness.

The kids that do survive are spreading and catching diseases because they aren't inoculated, and because they are living in such close quarters with each other.

Why doesn't President Obama come see what's happening? He was in Texas for political fund raising but he couldn't bother to make a side trip to one of these "camps" to see what's happening?

I wondered why he came to look at our "broken" bridge but couldn't make the trip to the border in TX. smh

He was too busy giving fist bumps and going out to eat . I am very concerned about the diseases the kids are bringing into our countries. When my dad family came here from Russia they did it legally and one of dad's brother had an eye infection so the family had to wait for that to clear up before they allowed go on land.

They're not being turned away immediately due to a law that allows immigrants a hearing before being deported. One intent of the law was to not send someone back who was in danger of sexual abuse/violence. The process takes a long time, so most remain in detention centers into adulthood, when they are put at the bottom of the queue of adults waiting a hearing.

An interesting approach to curbing immigration has been the US sending aid and training border patrol agents in other countries. We've provided vehicles, communication gear, as well as scanning equipment in addition to quality training to some of these countries to help turn back people before they get here and enter the system.

Yes, I heard about many child immigrants continue to cross the border and strained many of our resource, so it made me very irritated with our government for not secure the border. 1986 immigration law failed to keep illegal immigrants out and many businesses support illegal immigrants due to cheaper pay, so they lobbied our government to make enforcement more lax.

You need to boot any pro-business politicians out and replace with anti-immigration politicians so they rather to listen to citizens instead of businesses.

US is not ready for open immigration policy because of weaker economic condition and not enough resource. I want to deny ALL welfares to immigrants and they need to raise on their own, even some countries banned all welfare to immigrants.

Majority of the congress are pro-business and they don't care about illegal immigrants because they listen to business that demanded them so Obama isn't only one like that.

Do you think the president has complete authority and give everything? That's false hope and the president has a lot of limitation, bounded by the constitution. The congress is in charge to fix the broken immigration law so it means you need ask the congress to get their ass to fix. The president could give some solution but not much because immigration law need be changed, also need more money for enforcement and immigration court. The immigration court has almost 400,000 backlog and ask for more funding require approval from the congress, so it seems like the congress don't want to fix it.

Most congress are pro-business so they side with corporation and they don't care about you.

No , they came in through Boston and had to be send someplace while his brother infection cleared up . My dad would pick on his younger brother about years later b/c he his infection held them back .

different country same scenario...few years back standing at my window I watch three immigrants at ten min intervals walk down the road bed roll on back,in total I watch about 100 or so walk pass my house up to main road turn towards London...cops were called but not give dam....they must come in on big boat got dropped off middle north sea by little boats...
another time I was place called Ashford it (cross over link on channel tunnel) and like a vally could look down on the trains stopping,i watch 25 illegals hop off cross electric rails and vanish this daily occurrence.Yet another time was on coach returning from Paris,The coach drove on to boat at Calais when got back to Dover(port) customs put us into waiting area as in the luggage compartment ten illegals who ripped our bags apart,cops sent them back to France and bet they tried it next day....

Well, I feel sorry for the kids and their parents who want to come to USA for a better life and jobs. In Mexico, Central America and South America, they are not having good life there and had struggled with the corrupt governments and the corrupt police departments. The job pay was very low and not enough to feed and a roof over their head. Most often they have fear of violence and not being able to have safe place to live.

Some of them will send some money to their family back home in Mexico so that they can survive. Life in Mexico, Central America and South America were not easy to live. Everyone take the risk of being in danger when confronting police and government authorities.

I have known that Natives (Indians) in Brazil are having a bad time with the government who want to take their lands away from them and killing them for speaking out in protest. There has been no freedom for them in the South of the Border. Life is hard there. I feel for the children and I don't think they do bring diseases as they don't have them there. It was just the media and the people want to blame them for the diseases which is bogus and lies.

There was American nun who high lighted the pressures the local indian people were suffering but I think it was more ecological problem with logging and corrupt logging companies,I wish could remember her name,she was elderly lady and worked on her own...she was murdered in the end... A Few other American nuns high lighted the despot goverments but I believe they were killed and America had something to do with it they noticed all the weapons these despot goverments had were American I may have some of the facts wrong but ultimately the world reaps what it sows as America is finding out

It's really our fault that it's happening. It's because of US drug policy that Mexico and Central America are becoming shitholes that people are desperate to escape.

Lot of people have disobey the law and took risk for their life to cross the border.

What I find it funny... Mexican went into America to live a better while hospital cost $$$$$ and in Mexico offer FREE medicare.

But still in their countries, it is dangerous to live there, even if their medical and hospital are probably free. They fear for their life. You should not laugh about it. They have a reason why they need to come here in USA to get away from the corruption.
