Saw that on TV last night....23 years is a long time!....

Poor doggie. I think this kid just has not learned his lesson. He has been in trouble a lot. Entering a house of a police officer and shooting his dog is terrible. This kid has an anklet bracelet on already then did this hideous act.

unable to scroll picture...from what I could see I would think court knows more,Proberly he cruel nasty excuse for human and would killed someone before long

Only in Florida. I also noticed the kid was African American, I don't think a white kid would have gotten the same punishment. I don't know how they could say it was murder of a law enforcement officer, the dog was retired, so he was a civilian. His past criminal record also played into his sentence I'm sure, but 23 years is a little to severe.

seb, i reckon so too ,its unjustified, maybe 3 years is enough...meh

23 years is too much for just killing police dog.

huh? 23 years is too long? I say it's not long enough! let me remind you why the penalty is not severe enough IMO -

Police said he and two other teens broke into the home of a Florida trooper and shot a retired K-9 several times.

Ivins was convicted in May of animal cruelty, armed burglary and shooting into an occupied building.

Rosier, who was 16 at the time of the incident but tried as an adult, was sentenced on Friday on charges of animal cruelty, armed burglary and shooting into an occupied building.

Rosier, who had a history of run-ins with the police, is the first to be tried, according to Palm Beach Post.

Drake suffered broken limbs, bullet wounds in his head and jaw, massive blood loss and lethal damage to his esophagus.

However she said she didn't feel that was appropriate after the court heard Rosier had faced previous juvenile charges for grand theft, battery, lewd and lascivious molestation and false imprisonment.

and 23 years is too cruel for this incorrigible violent criminal? I think we're being too kind on him and look at what happened when we showed our kindness to a violent criminal. another victim.

This "person" has been in trouble many times. Other punishments apparently have not worked. Maybe if he cleans up his act he can get out sooner on good behavior.

Florida needs to construct the hard labor camp and this teen will become slave (no pay, just forced to working) in hot, humid weather for 5 years, so I'm sure that he would rather to work at McDonald's over state-run labor camp.

that's a really bad joke because it's racist and it's best left unsaid.

No, not in old time, hard labor camp is still exist today, regardless on race and 13th Amendment doesn't protect inmates from forcing to perform unpaid labor.

I don't mention any race in this thread so no idea about why are you too sensitive. :dunno:

Only problem is… he WILL learn lesson if its in Singapore.

My issue is, too much time in prison, not enough disciplines. Anyone can have all the time in jail, but they don't really getting the real punishment, so when there is real punishment like in Singapore, they will learn lesson… period

Hence the old saying… "Spare the rod, spoil the child"

that would be unconstitutional

in this case.... too little time in prison, not enough prison time... that's why this boy thought he's all that. now no more! he will be somebody's bitch and he will be under control, being told and ordered around. ain't life bitch, huh?

he's black and you mentioned "slave". that just don't go well together.

The way Singapore have done… IS it working for them (In term of controlling crimes)?

that would be unconstitutional

good for them but this is America. you do believe in the Constitution, do you?

Thats the real problem!

We can't just say, its unconstitutional and act like as if there is no viable solution.

My point is, bring back labor camp, and boot camp for these stubborn criminals. We need balance in society, right now we are giving way, way too much rights to crooks and at the same time most of the rights were stripped for these victims. The balance is way out of balance as I see it.

so you believe we should take out a scissor and cut away our Constitution?
