Deaf Actress, Phyllis Frelich Dies | The Silent Grapevine

Several friends on my Facebook have confirmed her passing and it has saddened me a lot. :(

I went to Gally with her young brother Daryl and youngest sister Pamela. Pamela and I went to several classes and got involved in class organization.

I just heard that a bit earlier too. Very sad about it. She was a great actress. :(

Never heard of her, was she a big time actress?

Yeah She was in many deaf movies like "Love is Never Silent" and "Bridge to Silence". She was in many California Deaf West plays.

She was an amazing actress!

(P.S. I've forgotten her Name Sign, does someone know?)

There is one clarification about Children of the Lesser God movie. Marlee Matlin played in the movie while Phyllis Frelich played the same role on Broadway. :)

If you mean her personal name sign, it was a "tapping "P" to the lower jaw"...

Was she in Mark Twain Cry Me a River play? If yes, I probably have seen her.

Rest In Peace, Phyllis Frelich. May she walk a long journey to the Spirit World.

I do remember her being in some movies and also some television programs. I have never been to Deaf West Theater to see her performed. She was a good actress and everyone closer to her in the hearing world admired her. Also she was famous with the Deaf communities, just like Marlee Matlin. Phyllis Frelich had worked with Marlee Matlin several times, I think. I am so sad that she is gone. Will always remember and cherish her. :(

I saw a couple of plays with her in it. Scrooge and can't remember the other one.

:(

She was a great lady of the theater.

Very sad news.

Wow...:( May she rest in peace. I only saw her in Love is Never Silent. I have no idea why but I could have sworn she had a smaller part in the movie Children of a Lesser God (knew she did the broadway play though).

Here's her IMDb page (it hasn't been updated yet with her death).
