IL bans life sentences for juvenile murderers

I would agree that mandatory is not necessary and need to be removed, what that means is that judge can make discreet decision whether to hand down life sentence to youthful murder or not. Kids and adults are not the same mentality level.

Everybody is entitled to second chance, if they prove that they learn valuable lesson. It is not fair to punish one more if they already learned hard enough.

I know a guy who used to commit criminal mischief, grand larceny including stolen vehicles and so on before his 18th birthday. He did got away with these and got warning from judge and this pissed off plenty of cops. After he turned 18 years old, he never re-commit any of these crimes and now is happily with his future wife and two kids and is currently instructor at college. If you met that guy I know, you will never know he had committed such crimes.

Sometimes kids who thinks they can outsmart system before they become 18 years, sadly that can happen and usually they won't do such after they reach 18. That is why I believe jive offenders deserves second chance.

I think this is really messed up. Letting murders out. A crime is a crime you got to pay for it no matter your age. (Killing aomeone for self defense or to protect aomeone else doesn't count) *sigh* i rwally hope they dont do this in California.

About that..... they might have to-- Supreme Court said so.

Look a little closer. First the Supreme Court ordered it, then the IL Supreme Court did.

Put "US" to first of Supreme Court = US Supreme Court if you are talking about Supreme Court in DC.

It will have to be up to the Court to find if the former young kid have been changed when he or she became an adult like 20 years old or 30 years old. Yes, they do need to earn their time in prison for what they have done to murder or to hurt people badly. Also it would be good to have a psychiatrist check them out. Also there were women who were abused from husbands or boyfriends had to kill them for defense. But the court put them for life. So that was sad. I hope they get that, too. They all have to be evaluated to make sure they are fit to come into society to be a good citizen. :(
