police stops father

I am disgusted beyond words. What kind of cop would do that?!
*bangs head on nearest hard surface*

Keeping the poor family in my thoughts today. :(

If it was me.... oh you wouldn't believe what a tazer could do when I was finished with it.
Kinda hits home since my son is 3 and I would protect him at all costs.

I wonder if it is because the cop has to follow the serve to protect vow that they take when they finish cadet school?

If that was the case, the cop should have been rushing in. Because after this He would be BBQ'd.
I believe a person who lives in the house would know a route to get to someone if needed.
We have already made our fire escape plans at the house. I showed everyone how to get out or save eachother (especially get to our young son) as I showed where they can punch through certain areas of the walls to get one room to the other, go out windows and into other rooms, there are 3 escape passes for each rooms and a 4th for severe emergencies as a last resort. And if I have to run through fire to save my son you bet your ass Id do it!

I would do the same too. However, if the cop didn't stop the father and he dies in the fire, I am sure he would have gotten blamed for it. Looks like it was a no-win situation for the cop.

I would had rather dies with my child than live without my child. We don't know if that is true about being a no win situation , is does not say how bad the fire was . I can't began to imagine how much pain the dad is going through , not being to move to safe his son. That cop should removed from duty while the investigation it going on.

Oh wow, If I was one of them so I'm going to disband the city police department and fire ALL of them.

Boy, 3, dies after police handcuff and taser his stepfather to STOP him from running into burning home to save his child | Mail Online

If the child was still alive at the time when the stepdad tried to break into the front door but was stopped by police, I would say the police became the child's murderer by preventing the dad to save him.

are you going to allow a person to run back into a burning home if you know very well that he's going to die?

I would do same thing as the cop. That officer made an extremely impossible decision and I'm sure he made a judgement call based on fact, not emotion, that the father wasn't going to survive. Smoke Inhalation is a pretty shitty way to die.

This site said the 2 cops used stuns guns on the dad more than one time. It sound likes there where no smoke alarms in the house , this would had made a huge difference in the outcome. The alarms would had woken the parents up and given them time to save their baby.

Police Use Stun Gun on Dad 3 Times to Stop Him From Trying to Save His 3-Year-Old Son From Burning House
"The fire started in a recreation room at the rear of the house. The parents had fallen asleep watching television, but were woken by the smoke alarm and managed to get out of the building via a rear door in the same room. They then called 911."

I am not seeing that when I read the story , I wonder why is not showing on my computer.

In my opinion it's not the cop's decision whether the father lives or dies. That's up to the father. The father knew the risks.

It's my life, I decide if I want to live or not.

I feel the same way, now the dad might keep wondering IF he could had saved his son. And has to be horrible to have on your mind as a parent .

In this thread, so far it looks like you are the only one who supports police's action.

It wouldn't be fair to be an armchair quarterback because we don't really have a complete picture of what happened.

I would understand the cop's decision if it was clear that the house is a lost cause and so engulfed in flames that it would be a suicide mission running in there. Were there any firefighters there getting ready to barge in? Or was the cop the ONLY public safety official there? I don't know what the house looked like when the father tried to run in but from the police officer viewpoint they deal with people who are not in their right mind.

After all, they deal with drug addicts, DUI offenders, etc... if the police office assumed that everyone is of sound mind he'd be out of a job. The truth is that some people are just nuts or maybe in this situation the father wasn't thinking clearly and didn't realize that his kid was a goner and that he'd just be killing himself running in.

I would be having a hard time if I was the cop to tell the truth and it's really a choice of lesser evils. What would I rather have in my report? 2 deaths or 1 death and 1 stunned person?

No One is going to tell me if I can or cant save my child... Im doing what is right in my mind, to try!

My best friend, His wife's sister lost 3 children in a house fire only one was saved ( he was at his dads house at the time of the fire )
She was a police officer, she couldn't gain access because the fire was too intense ( children were trapped on the 2nd floor ) everyone could hear the children screaming as they burned to death... something no parent should ever encounter. The mom lost it, she became mental since.

I confronted 3 young men that where trying to break into my house and go into my baby room when she was sleeping , I had a knife in my hand and I know I was outnumbered but that did not stop me from keeping the guys out of baby room. Some people thought said I should not had done that , no way was anyone going to tell me how to protect my baby. I would given my life up in a heartbeat to save my baby or grandchild.
