mmm...I dont like the structure of this one. This structure seems not right for a financial center. Financial centers usually need alot of space to be productive or whatever the reason is. Look at the top, does it look like it has enough room to do a financial business?

I have a feeling that there will be a better proposal even though they said it is finalized now. They have plenty of time to change their minds. lol

taller than the former WTC?? i dunno about that...that would take take years of hard, painful, stressed work...actually, i think it's better to make it smaller just so it wouldn't be crashed like it did to the orginal WTC...they crashed because it was really reachabel to crash it so i think they should cut it short...proably smaller than the empire state building so that would cost less and more safety.

Well that wtc2002 did ask and try to provide the security on that building.. It could shoot airplane or whatever down before it attack the world trade center. or FAA could make policy on no fly zone at least 10 to 15 miles radius the WTC. Thanks

Well, I think it's a waste of money to rebuild something, WHY don't we just build a memorial like the oakahoma city bombing, where that's very sensible and respectful shows we honor the poeple and honor the heros who died for us!

Sure, we could build a memorial there. But, if we keep doing that for every building and people that are killed, then we'll have a bunch of memorials all over the place. It's better to rebuild than to leave it alone. However, they can just put a huge metal plate on the side of the new WTC with a memorial message on it.

Yeah, they are definitely going to build a small memorial. So many businesses were lost due to WTC and the population is growing so it make sense to build another one to help some of businesses get back on its feet.

I am not crazy about new design of WTC. I can't imagine myself working there in new WTC buildings, so therefore, better leave it alone or set up memorial statue of approximately 3,000 people who were pershired during suicidal airplane crashes.

Why should we be building monuments to the greatest wank that we call capitalism? Why are people rushing to embrace this crap - they can build a new WTC, but the world is not gonna be any safer. America [and the coalition of arse lickers, sorry the willing] are gonna continue making a mess of the world for the own interests! Why is America spending so much on military shit when so many of tis people go hungry?

I was hoping that the site of WTC will be turned into a memorial park for the victims so we can pay our respects and remember the tragedy. But then, its good that we are rebuilding to show the terrorists that we continue to prevail in the face of tragedy and we are willing to move on with our lives.

Nonetheless, the design is beautiful. Wickedeyed is right...it does look like a gem sticking out of the ground. I can imagine it ll be breathtaking once it is completed.
I second you, I_AM_I, I agree with that it should be created for a permanent memorial park in memory of those who lost their lives on that fateful day. I believe it'll be a better and greater way of showing our respect.

While war and terrorism and human beings continue to fight and oppress other human beings, building memorials ot the dead is a futile and pointless excercise.

If we all worked towards ending war, terrorism and oppression, then I can appreciate the memorial...but until then, all this memorial as a way of showing respect is pointless. It achieves nothing other than to allow the people like Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney et al to put their own spin on things like this to justify their state sanctioned terrorist activities into other countries.

If you want tos erve the victims memories, do so while fighting war, terrorism and oppression. When we win the fight against these, then the victims lives would not have been in vain.

Remember, Saddam was in power with US support!

This is quite a sticky issue that everyone has to go through -- whether it'd be worth the losses of lives in wars and so forth. There will always be controversies surrounding this.
