The man, whose name was not reported, petitioned the Rabbinical Court in Beersheba for divorce from his cat-loving wife this past week, The Times of Israel, Jerusalem, reported Sunday.

He told the court he was unable to sleep in the couple’s bedroom because his wife’s hundreds of cats were constantly sleeping on the bed.

The man said the cats also blocked his access to the bathroom and did not allow him to cook in the kitchen, the Hebrew daily Maariv reported Wednesday. When he sat down at the table to eat, the cats would jump up and steal his food, he said in his divorce request.

The couple tried to reconcile as ordered by the rabbinical court; however, the wife was unable to part with her pets and instead decided to part with her husband.

I don't blame him. It appears that she may be a hoarder.

Basically, I think it's sick.....have a friend also that has over 30 cats in her small home and many stray cats outside also. She feeds them.....Her son got so fed up, he had to move out, as the smell made him sick.....She won't allow anyone inside her house, so whenever anyone comes to visit, you have to sit outside or either in the car.

She also does not have the $$ to get the cats spayed/neutured, so they multiply. She's in her 50's, and her grandchildren will not go over to her house either, her son won't allow it.

I would divorce after 5th cats were obtain by my wife. I can't stand too many cats, sorry no offense I'm allergic to cats.

500 cats are nuts.

I had 5 and it was tooo much. Now I have 4 furkids. I learn something that i think 3 cats are perfect. gosh!

The largest amount of cats my family's ever had was...six? But we have a big house. They eventually either got given to good homes or allowed to be outside cats, with the dogs staying inside. I can't imagine 500...How do you even fit that in a house?!

I would bet on it that the woman is a hoarder. The poor cats and woman , she need some help.

Excessive expose to cat give me severe allergy symptoms.

Definitely a hoarder with psychological problems.

I'm surprised at how many communities allow people to collect so many cats. It's not healthy for the cats or humans.

Why on earth did the husband let this get so out of hand? He must be an enabler to her problem.

I love kitties but that's not treating them with love.

I wonder how many dead cats there are hidden away in some corner rotting away amongst the mess? You probably wouldn't be able to smell that part. I bet a good number of them are in bad health that they need to be put down.

Yeah...and the Lady I mentioned...she cannot afford to spay & neuter those cats...even have any flea control for them....She's sick, prefers those cats to any human being....

Yes. And those cats will need to be put down. They're not likely to be adopted if the town's ordinance find the situation to be a nuisance or a health issue.

and cats are not happy. I bet some of the cats would rather be outside and fending for themselves than to be cramped up with 499 other cats.

I just dont understand that just because you love cats so much, you are actually destroying those cats by getting too many. I think 1- 2 is a good number. Any more then that, the quality of human lives starts to degrade.
