The verdict is in. Not guilty on one count, and mistrial on the others. There won't be any guilty verdicts unless they start over with a new trial. There's a good chance they won't retry him.

Agreed. They probably won't retry him on the counts they couldn't reach a verdict on. Such is life...

Btw, did you see his speech?

How convienient.

If retrial could be result in double jeopardy?

I'm just wonders because our constitution protects against double jeopardy.

Where there is no verdict on a charge, there is a declared mistral and no double jeopardy attachment for a re-trail. However, since there is a verdict on one charge of "not guilty" he can not be brought to trail again on THAT charge.

double jeopardy only protects you if you were acquitted. since he was found not guilty of illegal campaign contributions, he's protected by double jeopardy for that. for 5 other charges, it was a mistrial so it's up to prosecutors to retry him or not.

just like what Reba said - chance is there will be no retrial... which is typical since these are very powerful and well-connected people.

Retrial on the mistrial charges only. No retrial on the not guilty charge. Therefor, no double jeopardy.

They replayed it on the news so I finally did catch most of it. Bunch of self-serving hooey for sure.

I had to LOL when Edward said he wanted to be a good father for his kids!
He cheated on his kids dying mother , I think it too late to be a good father now.

I did not trust the guy when he was running for president, there was something very creepy about him.
