my 2nd poem!
The Deafness of Me
Don’t feel sorry for me. In lots of ways I like the deafness of me. I like Being online Hanging out with deafies Teaching sign language Listening to music as much as I want Laughing till I cry …..and having the whole group of deaf friends I hate Being treated differently Hanging out with non-deaf group Going to movies with no closed-captioned Listening to hearing person complaining (“oh nothing, just talking about this and this” “You already knew…” [Not wanting to sign]) ……and having to go home I hope Some day will come That I will find a place Who that will let me Fit in all I love to be in, Get rid of all I hate, I love being me |
