I lost this one last fall

An old cat curls
up on my lap and
then she looks to me
as if she where to laugh
as I remember
our days gone by.

As I recall it wasn’t always
this way, once in her life
she was just a stray, so often
I wondered if she was afraid in
those days or if being a cat means
to take what comes your way.

As she drifts of to sleep and
her thunder fades I find myself
hoping she’s forgotten those days.
As her life is passing and she
shan’t stay long, too soon her
shadows will haunt my halls.

Its here that I find the big mystery
that troubles me but quite gently
this cat you see she really quite small
but in my heart she measures tall.

Sometimes Deaf ask hearing if your words reach us and make us understand. Well now hearing is writing to you because since I read your work I haven't stopped crying. I have had similar loss, but you express it so well, now it is okay to feel pain.
