What is Script on a computer?

I keep getting a pop up telling me a script is causing my computer to run slow and if I do not fix it my computer will stop responding . what the heck it a script? Should I correct this ?
 
What program are you using when this happens? If it's Firefox, it's probably because your plug-ins are outdated. One common plug-in to be outdated is Adobe.

I use window xp , I am really bad in understanding everything about computer! I have no idea what plug ins are.
 
Take a screenshot when this happens again and post it here.
 
Many many pages on the Internet have minot JaveScript errors. There is a way to turn the error notifications off in Ineternet Explorer. I don't remember offhand how to do it though.

I'm not talking about the OS (operating system) like Windows XP or Windows Vista. I'm talking about the program on the computer itself that you use when this happens.

Does it happen when you're online while using an internet browser like IE (Internet Explorer) or Firefox?
