I am getting ready to setup a MythTV box with PVR 500 and wonder if anyone here have set a MythTV and have good result from it?

I have setup MythTV before on Fedora Core 3 with cheap old WinTV card and it works good and CC is good but sometime picture have grains in it. Probably will be better with PVR 500 card and maybe newer distro like Ubuntu.

If you are running MythTV what linux distro are you using? Fedora Core? Ubuntu? CentOS? also what tuner card are you using too? Does tuner card you have good CC support? etc. Also what CPU and ram and video card you have on it?

Thank you

I been reading on other DVRs and found SageTV also have CC but "unsupport" and comes in 3 favors .. linux mac and windows .. Anyone use this DVR?

If so what hardware and cpu and how you like the CC on it?

Thanks

Is this a free service?

I am not aware that Zap2It will no longer free service on September 1, 2007.
(MythTV)

I am not familiar with the MythTV stuff, and I will read it.

Thanks.

Zap2It is a channel data provider.

It provide channel listing to lots of folks with DVRs.

MythTV does not own or control Zap2It just get it's channel listing from it but MythTV is starting their own channel data listing in Sept. New channel data Welcome to Schedules Direct

DVR is Digital Video Recorder some folks call it PVR Personal Video Recorder and Myth is linux based recorder but there are other recorder like SageTV or BeyondTV or M$ Media Center Enteriment.

It similar like TiVO but no monthly charges and uses your PC. MythTV use linux and is free software but SageTV uses Windows or Mac or Linux and cost about 80 dollar software one time and no monthly fees at all on either one. Some DVR software have auto commerical skips, it can detect and know when commerical is on by screen and sound audio then skip automatically for you so you don't have to fast forward back to your tv programming.
