I tried enabled on 1080i for Xbox 360 games, also virtua tennis 3 is one of them and played on tennis match then looks lag, from start fast then slow and fast again, that messed up. I wouldn't recommanded to play xbox 360 on 1080i anymore then changed to 720p and looks smooth.

Wow, Xbox 360 VGA cable isn't work on my HDTV then struck with component cable.

Edit, it doesn't work on high resolution via VGA cable for my HDTV due limited with resolution.

Also, it does work on low resolution, such as 640 x 480 or so.

Depend what games, I selected 1080i and it looks great and works on any games. I have no idea why yours messed up.

I may be wrong, but I believe i = Interlace is better for movies, and p = Progressive is better for games, because it draws more lines, and allows smoother graphic movement.
For example, 480p is better than 720i. I don't use i for games, only 480p or 720p.

It depends on the cables and television used. The better quality both are, the better quality you get.

Me... I never cared much for "superior quality". After all, I look for game play... not game looks.

Same here. As long as it is decent enough and suitable for gameplay, I'm happy to play the game. BUT I must admit, using a HD TV (regardless of what number p or i you use) or componen(or HDMI, or VGA) over Composite cables makes a BIG difference. For example, in Rainbow Six: Vegas, I am able to see farther with HD or componenet rather than a Composite cable. I have to squint a lot with Composite.

The 360 and PS3 encourage HD gameplay(although I am confounded as to why Sony packages composite cables in their PS3 packages).

It does work so fine for most Xbox 360 games but few games like virtua tennis 3 isn't good running on 1080i and doesn't know about running on 1080p.

Sony is just let anyone to choose on right video cable, also first generation of HDTV (1998 until 2003 before HDMI is invented) don't have HDMI input then they are using component cable for PS3 on 720p but 1080i isn't came with first gen of HDTV and it was came out until 2003 or 2004.

Only about under 40% of American own HDTV, that not majority yet but would be happen in around 2010.

I'm concerned that 1080p will rejected by my HDTV because of not compatible with 1080p when running on PS3, also I'm good with 720p or 1080i via HDMI.

Actually, progressive is better for both movies and games mainly due to the motion. It'll still look great in 1080i but the motion will be noticeably better in 720p.

1080i is interlaced, so that means it's 540 lines at once then another 540 lines to fill in the gaps left by the first 540 lines. That's what interlaced video is. 720p contain 720 lines all at once, so in a sense... 720p is better for watching movies and games if 1080p isn't available as an option.

I see your point Pacman, but Microsoft did it WAY better for a base package deal.

XBOX360 package(s) come with a cable for BOTH component and composite.

PS3 package(s) come with ONLY component.

And... Sony touted their PS3 as the true HD gaming system..

Look at your spelling.

PS3 package is coming with composite cable, also some store offers HDMI for discount or free on anytime.

O SNAP1!!111 !!

I stand corrected by Pacman. PS3 package(s) come with only Composite... Bad Sony. Thank you Pacman. Some stores offer a free Sony PS3 HDMI cable with the purchase of a PS3?? Interesting. Which stores, may I ask?

Good catch, Pacman. Too bad I can't edit it, due to AD.com's rules about editing old posts... :dunno:

I will try my VGA cord on my Dad's 50' Plasma. I will post here if it is a significant improvement over what I have been playing with the past few weeks. I played last night and got the update on the 20' SDTV in my room(which supports component), so I don't know how VGA looks after the update.

Back to SDTV again? Wow!!

VGA cable is good for PC monitor but not good for HDTV.

Component cable is best for HDTV, also same with HDMI if you have Xbox 360 Elite.

LOL. I am switching between a SDTV and a Plasma, depending on if my Dad's watching something on the plasma, so I bring it upstairs to my room on the SDTV. It is not bad, probably because this SDTV has component input.

VGA is pretty kick ass on the Plasma. I don't have any issues with it. I haven't checked it since the update yet though. Even before the update, it still kicked ass. It's not like it's unplayable. Maybe it s not the best, but damn, is it sweet looking.

Yep, the update did improve VGA contrast on the 360. I played GRAW2 with VGA on a 50' Plasma... FLIPPING SWEET. It is noticeably improved, colors are better, and I am able to see farther, if you can beleieve that..

Well, you cannot catch 1080i on VGA cable but only can catch 1080p (1920 x 1080) on monitor if you have 24" or over, also 1080i and 1080p aren't different on under 37" HDTV.

I don't give a crap about interlace or 1080i, sorry. I also didn't ask any questions, I merely stated that the spring update did in fact show improvement with the VGA.

Quit spamming out random information that is barely relevant to the topic. It's getting old.
