I had found out that satellite internet have high latency like dial-up does and would cause any games to have bad laggy and kick out from gaming service but... I'm surprised that MS don't realize then need remove the satellite internet supported on Xbox Live to prevent from bad laggy but it does happened to few host, also I thought they are using dial-up on Xbox Live, such as third party but it wasn't true... I found out it was from satellite internet but their speed is much slower than DSL and cable, also faster than dial-up and still have high latency too.

I made right choice to not get satellite internet and they are ripped off, also latency is more important for online gaming, such as low ms is better one.

Anything wireless isn't always reliable.

It's better to have a ground-connected service.

I prefer to have my computer jacked into the wall... not hooked up wireless.

Satellite is not good for multiplayer online. Hurt by upload is sux.

Dial-up is used to be ok for MMO in long time ago, around mid to late 90's when graphic is in 32MB or 64MB era but... not anymore...

Satellite sucks because of very high latency, such as 600 ms or more in ping, even worse than dial-up.

I used to play Sims Online via dial-up and not bad at most time until it was discontiuned in 2002 after got new cable modem.

Oh geez.

Satellite is better for download only. Some old one-way Satellite can't do upload. You have to use dial-up for upload.

Better for download only? It has less speed rate than DSL and cable, also not good price too.

I will left Chicago in around summer after get benefit from Wal-fart.

I'm caring about latency and ms ping, that important for online games.

FYI, some DSL aren't good with download time, it will take me around 3-5 hours to done with 1GB, especially on PS3 when I was download GT HD.

Upload speed is not the biggest issue, this includes videophone as well, the problem is very high latency. When you have very high latency, you would miss few "frames". DOn't you know that there is approx 3 to 8 seconds delay when it comes to transmission though the satellite? Average is 5 seconds, VP and gamers can NOT have that kind of delays.

Latency and speed is NOT the same thing! Even if you got very high speed, but high latency, it hurts the transmission quality.

To find out, on DOS prompt, you would type tracert <ip address> and you will see anywhere from 4 to 30 hops, depends on the networking involved. The best is 30ms or less, VP can tolerate up to 100ms, but beyond that, you get pixeling images, that is because it skips the transmission due to high latency.
