There's program that you can ripping from DVD into mp4 (mpeg4), that work with PSP, also that support subtitles too but you are require to open the video and audio files at same time because audio is working on subtitle in mp4 and video is working on movie, full length from DVD. If you don't open the audio file then you will get no subtitle.

Download from Xilisoft website and would cost $29 at one time fee.
DVD to PSP Converter: Convert DVD to PSP MP4, PS3 Video, PSP Converter

It's applied for all PSP and PS3 users.

For PS3 users, you can ripping from DVD into mp4 for PS3, also support up to 1080p and known as upscale but not true HD, though.

For PSP users, it's recommended to buy 2GB-4GB memory stick but you can save the video on PC via hard drive for need change in later.

Info about iTune...

You cannot download the video, such as movies and tv shows from iTune because it's copyrigted protection and support mv4, that only work on iPod.

Sony is require to sign an license from Apple to allow to download from iTune and write an firmwire update to expands into mv4 but wouldn't happen right now.

If so then Apple can sue on Sony.
