I was wondering if there is a free capture shot program for a laptop similar to Hoversnap...btw I have tried that Hoversnap program on a laptop and the program did not work when I "snapped" a pic or so... just wanted to know if there is one beside that? Let me know please...

Yep, there is! It's something that already comes with most (or all) Windows operating systems.

Simply press the PRINT SCREEN key, open MS Paint, then press CTRL+V to paste it. Now, save it!

Ta-da! A free snapshot! :)

Vampy.. I dunno if that would apply to the laptop... hmm no Print Screen key button there... and I tried that.. nothing...

It's on every keyboard. It may not exactly be a "Print Screen" key, but something that requires you to press FN key or something. It could be "PrntScrn".

on a sony vaio it's in the top row, third from the right, says "prt sc"

If it's actually not included on your laptop keyboard (who knows, ThinkPads dont have "windows logo" keys.

you can always remap a key you're not using to be your print screen key.

What kind of model and make of your laptop do you use. Maybe you could take a closer look at it with magnifying glass. It's usually next to "F12" button.

My Acer Aspire laptop do have "Prt Scr" already there. I had no problem taking snapshot with it.

Compaq laptop..and I did see the Prt sc keybutton but that is under insert key written there.. hmm and I did try the FN button but nothing....any other idea and as for remapping that one.. huh..where to remap that certain button? I been trying to find one.. hmm..will look for that...

It depends on the set-up of your keys.

For instance, some laptops will have extra functions added to some keys.

The keys alone will be what the keys are for. These are usually F1 to F12.

On some of these keys, there are secondary functions printed in white. They may require the CTRL key to be pressed and held down when pressing those to activate the secondary function.

On some of these keys, there are more functions printed in blue. They may require the FN key (which is usually blue as well) to be pressed and held down when pressing those to activate the secondary function.

Anyway, when pressing the PRT SC key... the screen will be copied. Now, go to MS Paint and then press CTRL+V to paste it. That should work. :)

Try holding the alt key and hit printscrn twice, then let up the alt key.

Then you can paste in programs like paint or other graphics programs.

make sure click mouse on screen not on task bar or other windows cos you need capture on that screen.
then press hold Ctrl+Alt + prtsc
open m$ paint > edit> paste

Thanks for the tips.. ahh now I know what to do.. but I do like Hoversnap... oh well will do with the keyboard tricks... thanks!
