Wanna help cure disease with your PC/PS3 idle time?

Anyways want to help cure a lot of diseases known to man like cancer, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimers and all others under the sun?

Hey u dont need to have a Ph.D! All you need, to help cure disease, is your Windows or Linux PC, Mac and PS3's idle time to connect with other PC's running a similiar program from Stanford University's "Folding@Home". The combined power of such a computing network is equal to that of a few supercomputers like my favorite supercomputer, a CRAY.

Join the AllDeaf Folder team either by visiting Folding@Home Distributed Computing (for Windows and Linux PC's plus Macintoshes) or downloading the 1.6 firmware update for the Playstation 3.

The team number to join is 58141.

Looking forward to seeing AD'ers making a contribution to science with their PC's, Macs and PS3's.

Sabs....

PS Mods...please make this a sticky if u dont mind. I have Alex's approval to set up a team for this worthy cause.

I'm worried about the potienal of this being a target for script kiddies and the lot of ne-er do wells. Otherwise it's cool.

I'm all for helping the medical community, but one must be a qualified researcher for something like that, right?

it only takes your computer's idle time to process data given to it from the Stanford Labs' server.

please visit the F@H site on the 1st post on top for more information.....

I've been part of a folding team for a while now. Its a great way to use your computer to benefit science!

This is good stuff. I've been running Folding on my nVidia graphic card for the past 2 years or so. Doesn't bog down my system at all and power consumption isn't much more than normal.
