I am curious PS3 can connect SDTV? Cuz my SDTV built in HDTV plus have HDMI ready...
I believe the PS3 comes with composite cables, which go with a SDTV... <- one of my gripes about Sony's PS3 launch, a HD stsyem with a freakin composite cable packed in?? Good going Sony.
I found my SDTV does support HDMI (420p, 720p, and 1080p) that means I can get PS3 and still lousy picture? The reason I wanna PS3 cuz of Blu Ray Disc...

Oh yeah, DON'T buy the "offical" PS3 HDMI. Banjo can refer you to a type of store that should carry the same thing for much much less than the $60 Sony is charging for HDMI PS3 cables. I think it was a computer parts store, which should be found in most cities across the country.
Sony must've reduced the price, when they realized $60 wasn't fooling consumers.Yeah, though I was surprised to find the official component cables for PS3 for just $24.99 at Wal-Mart. (That's in Canadian currency) Pretty cheap for a first-party component cable package, I'll say.

What's SDTV or HDTV? You said SDTV support HDMI? SDTV don't support HDMI, also you MEANS that you own HDTV? If yes then get HDMI cable and picture quality, as resolution will be automatically at 1080p, if not then switch to 720p or 1080i.
Also I found out there is a HDMI-to-DVI cable if your HDTV only comes with a DVI input. Right now I'm thinking about trading my 360 in for a Pureisutēshon Surī this weekend and I'm likely going to use a HDMI-to-DVI cable on my Sammy HDTV. Failing that, I will settle on the PS3 HDAV Component cables like I used for the 360. However I have to say that this kind of cable aint a Sony accessory but its from RCA. I think it costs less than $30 for sure.
I will explain my reasoning for trading the 360 in for the Pureisutēshon Surī later, but its gonna be a nice companion to both my PSP and the Sony digital camera that I bought last week.
