Well, Win2000 is based on Windows NT environment which have much stronger security thus impossible to retrieve password unless you got admistrator password which is unlikely in thise case. Administrator account is only way to go around, but won't be that easy.

One of the easiest way to "save" files and favorites off a computer, is to take the hard drive out and put it in another computer as a slave drive (AKA D: drive or whatever letter it assigns it to) and then boot up the computer as usual. When you go in, go to the drive that you added, back up all the files, favorites, etc... and then you can simply format the hard drive and start with a fresh install and then restore all the files back on.

If you do not have a spare computer to connect as a slave drive, you can do it the hard way and create a linux boot disk and delete the SAM file which stores the passwords. See Recover Administrator's password for more info.

I suggest that you take a sledgehammer to her computer. Problem solved! Especially with the attitude she's giving you!

Oh dear!

Next time, you use your own name in Administrator account. You are responsible on the computer... It will be easier for you to find out if you own Administrator account for the family.

I own Administrator account for the family. My both boys have their own passwords to open their account without internet. I'm the one who add password to open the internet for my boys.

My boys gave me their passwords to keep in file for the case. They trust me for not spy their accounts. I only need their password for the case if any happened to my computer then I has to open their accounts to find out...

It's probably in 2938749328752837 pieces because I suggested that GalaxyAngel take a sledgehammer to it and she probably took my advice.

There are programs that you can boot your PC from and they will allow you to go in and reset passwords, I have used them many times successfully. It would be better to have someone who knows how, do this for you.

Just take a sledgehammer to the computer, and then you won't have to deal with the frustrations that comes with having a computer anymore! Simple solution!

I try looking through google to see if I could help you with the problem you're having, this is what I came across....

Warning! Do not change the password for the account named Administrator. This account is designed for use by UIS technicians to access your computer if a problem occurs. If the password for this account is changed, your hard drive may have to be entirely erased before any adjustments or repairs can be made.
The problem your daughter having is, she changed her password again didn't she?, and it cause problems occurs to her computer, she should have never changed it ....
