Microsoft IPTV

When will release on 360? How much is monthly bill?

I'm using 360 via HD monitor, up to 720p and doesn't have CC support because it's not tv tuner.

Do you have Windows Media Center 2005? It will turn on for closed captioned thru xbox 360.

If you plan to get Windows Vista Home Premium upgrade. It does have Media Center. It will get closed captioned on your xbox 360.

I have no idea when it will comes. I think it will come around end of this year.

Las Vegas -- Microsoft announced Monday that it will combine the Xbox 360 with its Internet-protocol-TV software for service providers, effectively turning its video-game console into an IPTV set-top box.

Microsoft said the IPTV-enabled Xbox will be offered by service providers "by holiday-season 2007." The software company didn't say which of its IPTV customers may be planning to offer the device. In the United States, AT&T is the largest company offering TV services via Microsoft's IPTV Edition software.

The IPTV-enabled game console -- which Microsoft refers to as "IPTV on Xbox 360" -- besides providing both TV and video games in one unit will combine elements of the two. For example, Microsoft plans to let TV viewers access Xbox Live community-based features, such as voice chat and sending and receiving text messages, while watching TV.

''Both Xbox 360 and Microsoft TV IPTV Edition by themselves deliver unique and exciting entertainment experiences today, but IPTV on Xbox 360 is truly a solution that is greater than the sum of its parts and will enable even more exciting experiences to delight consumers, service providers, content providers and game developers alike,'' Robbie Bach, president of Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices Division, said in a prepared statement.

Microsoft said it has sold more than 10.4 million Xbox 360 consoles in 37 countries to date. Outside of the United States, Microsoft's IPTV Edition software has been commercially deployed by BT Group in the United Kingdom, Deutsche Telekom in Germany, T-Online in France and Swisscom in Switzerland.

I don't know about media center...

Does will work in all of USA?

That's great about no monthly bill and MS IPTV is under AT&T but different for us, such as MS paid them for offers free IPTV.

Did you checked my thread about picture on IPTV, that is under MS with Xbox 360 and different from AT&T, also seems that media center and IPTV is separated.

I will check on requirement about IPTV.

There's picture about media center and television are separated but hopefully IPTV on Xbox 360 will have CC without support on media center.

Yeah, I think it is great to have both. If IPTV only supports to record two shows. To have other media center to record other two shows. Four shows recorded is awesome. I hated when my three favorite shows comes in same time on same day and I have to miss that day. So recorded all three shows when i get back home.

Right now, IPTV is not available. I am sure that IPTV will work on closed captioned because of FCC.

Just let you know...

None of of Xbox 360 games are support on true 1080p, only support on upscale because of DVD because limited on capacity or bandwitch. For SD resolution like 480i or 480p are support on some 360 games via downscale or true. If you want buy Xbox 360 with HDMI input then wouldn't different with between VGA or HDMI because 360 games aren't give you a true 1080p and looks worthless to me. You only can get true 1080p for HD-DVD movies only via VGA or HDMI, both aren't different but digital will help to support ICT but won't happen until 2010.

You said DVD with HDMI input is better picture quality then would nothing to impressive yourself because DVD is true 480i or 480p but only upscale to 1080i isn't good. HD-DVD and BD pwns DVD so badly because they support true HD, from 720p to 1080p. I have no reason to get black version of Xbox 360 because 360 games aren't support on true 1080p, also good reason is 120GB for IPTV and collect more stuff from marketplace, like tv shows.

If you want games to support true 1080p then buy any games for PS3 because they are BD.
