Anyone playing this? I've never played a FF game before but I got it for Christmas (along with the strategy guide) and I'm looking forward to starting. It's supposed to be great. Any tips?
 
I am playing it right now. However, I am playing without any type of guide. I died a lot before I learned that I really got to level up a LOT.

I have no idea how far along I am in the game, but I can tell you it's a long game.

Maybe it's long for me because I barely use any guide. Only when I am really stuck certain spot or become too frustrated.

One tip, when you see the ball float (look like giant ball of electrical sparks) anywhere outside of the town, unless you are level 40 or higher, RUN AWAY! Run for your dear life.

I learned the hard way...one hit, then good-bye.
 
I will rent this game and would review soon.
 
I have that game also, but I didn't start to play yet since I need the guide book for it...
 
You don't want to play it without guide first? I would think people will enjoy the game more if there's no spoilers involved.

But that's just me. Guide is an addict for me. It's hard to break that habit, but I did it for FF:12.

I am planning to play it again with guide after I beat it first. It will be fun to see how much I missed or how much I actually succeed.
 
This is my most recent Final Fantasy that I've played. I have 3 characters @ lv. 85 and 3 @ lv 73... Almost 150 hours. By FAR the longest FF I've played yet. Oh, and it's super cool too! ;-)

I agree! I am actually scared to play it again with guide...because then we are talking about spending another 150 hours on it!

Haven't finished the game yet. I am still stuck with hunting sidequest. Ugh!
 
Funny this thread got necromanced because I was just thinking up picking up the game again. I played a little but got distracted by the three zillion other games we have around here...oh yeah, and work and school and stuff.
 
agreed, final fantasy 12's awesome, great gameplay, im before the final boss, havent beat it yet, im just on the "finish the side-quests/hunts" rumble now, then when everything's done, beat the game.
final fantasy 12's the best game of ps2 ff series imo (didnt like ffx/x-2 and xi, ffx is gay).
 
yep played with it before its pretty cool nice system and gameplay something pretty new to me and completely customizeble its like a offline version of online games to be honest
