The girls will change bathing suits right before your eyes, assuming you're in the right hotel.

October 3, 2006 - Although we already shared with you a lengthy hands-on playtest with Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 early last month (in case you missed it, go, go, go, go, go!), we've unearthed a few more details on the game via the latest issue of Famitsu Xbox 360.

From the magazine comes news of an intriguing new gameplay system. What was the one thing missing from the original DOAX? That's right, changing sequences! DOAX2 now has the "Majoukko System," which is Japanese for "Little Sorceress System." As part of this system, when a girl is particularly fond of you, and you give her a new bathing suit, she'll change into it right before your eyes!

Now, don't get too excited. The "changing" is anime inspired, resembling a transformation sequence you'd find in something like Sailor Moon. Of course, Sailor Mars never transformed into a string bikini!

The magazine also scored first details on another surprise element: multiple hotels! New Zack Island now has three hotel locations. Seabreeze Cottage is a casual beachside hotel located near the Marine Race mini game course. Gemstone Suite is an elegant five star hotel. Closer to the DOA series is Moonlight Reef, which appeared in Kasumi's DOA4 ending in pre-rendered form, but has been tranformed to real time for DOAX2.

Your choice of hotel has a direct connection with the game's love simulation elements. The girls outside of the character that you select as your in-game counterpart will stay in a hotel that suits their personalities. Elena is a natural fit for Gemstone Suite, for instance, so if you chose to play as her and select Moonlight Reef, the other girls will probably look at you somewhat strange. In general, you have an advantage in giving gifts to girls who are staying in the same hotel as you.

Also filling up the magazine's lengthy 8 page look at DOAX2 is some new info on the gravure mode. The magazine has a look at Christy's Pole Dance gravure sequence, which has its origins in Christy's DOA4 ending. As with the Moonlight Reef hotel, the DOA4 CG sequence has been redone in real time for DOAX2. Team Ninja added all the motion data that wasn't used for the DOA4 ending sequence, and ended up with a minute long gravure sequence for DOAX2 players to enjoy. This is just one of the 180 scenes included in the game.

Closing off Famitsu Xbox 360's screen-filled look at DOAX2, the magazine grilled producer Tomonobu Itagaki on a few points of concern. DOAX2 will be fully compatible with the Xbox 360 Core System, said Itagaki, although the load times will be a bit longer due to the inability to cache data. Incidentally, the magazine asked Itagaki about compatibility because the Core System was just recently announced for Japanese release this November.

DOAX2 was 80% complete at the time of the interview. According to Itagaki, Team Ninja had finished up half of the bug testing, finalized the opening and ending movies, and was working on getting all the item comments into nine languages. The game has managed to fill up an entire DVD due to the inclusion of pre-rendered movies, said the producer.

We'll get to sample Team Ninja's latest, changing sequences, gravure sequences, nine languages, and all, in just over a month.
