Hey! I need advice I have couples of problems on DI-624 and I need help. Sometime my DI-624 loss Signal and disconnected so often and my internet tired connect to other internet and other internet in my area all of them are locked. Do you have any idea how make Signal don't get low and make sure my computer stay connect with that signal. Do you have any idea how do that?

Depending on what revision you have, you should see if you can upgrade its firmware before you do any further troubleshooting. Also see if you can update your wifi drivers for your system.

Check and see if you need to upgrade your DI-624's firmware here:

D-Link TechSupport - Welcome

It is also recommended that you place your wifi router (DI-624) high above the ground away from any other electronic devices such as cordless phone, radio, tv, etc. for better reception.

Regards,
Christopher

Perhaps it will help solving the router problems.

Try turn off the Turbo (or Super G) mode. Also, turn off the old 802.11a and 802.11b, leave only 802.11g on. I did those on my DGL-4300 and it worked. I dont know if 'random crash' problem may come back. I will let you know if it happens.

I live in townhouse located around the medical facuilities and Naval airport in few miles away. I found there's five or more Wi-Fi hotspots when I setup the wireless internet for mother's laptop. Not only wi-fi hotspots, I suspected there's more electroincs that use shared 2.4 ghz wireless around my townhouse. Also, Hornets, fighting jets, flying all over the surrounding areas and radars in airport. Those affected my router.

I owned DI-624 for few years before start use DGL-4300.

Sometimes, these government agencies use "wireless signal jammer" to free up their own wireless technologies needs. It is part of FCC regulation that you must accept their interference, but you can NOT interference them!!! So, one suggest is to get 5ghz version, and that is 802.11a. Why 802.11a? Simple, not many people are using 5ghz wireless, like 2.4ghz wireless is EVERYWHERE! Garage door opener, tv remote control, wireless telephone, and so forth, and this increase the traffic on wireless router trying to seperate the signals.

Yes, you set your router to correct settings. Did you set the secuirty mode to WEP or WPA by your choice?
I like to suggest you use MAC filters (Advanced> Filters) to keep strangers' computers from using your network without paying the bills or your permit. Apply your computers' MAC address to allow list and you're all set.

How to find your MAC address

Yes, I did set WEP for my Security Key! Do I still have set MAC address on Router?

Use WPA or WPA2, not WEP. My mistake.

I use WEP because my Nintendo DS dont connect via WPAs but only WEP. I going to use WPA2 after I get new Wi-Fi USB connector for DS.

GraysonPeddie: Thanks for security information on MAC filters.

I know there's some security programs had feature which alert user about uninviting strangers start use the network. I dont know if they able to break their connections off the network...

Apologies for double post...

Ah I see... I kept wonder everytime I pass the big white dome-shaped radar sit next to airport. I thought it was weather radar monitoring the tropical storms and hurricanes. My home is located in coastal region of Virginia and few hours to border of North Carolina.

I dont find any information on my DGL-4300 router to see if it use 2.4 ghz or 5 ghz... I'll keep dig them up. I knew I had a magazine got article on my router. I'll take a look at it.

Will new routers start use bluetooth technology or something better set wireless routers apart from 'radar jamming' electronics?

If I were you, I'd be skeptical when it comes to having wireless devices that only support WEP; therefore a WiFi USB connector that supports WPA2 is a good ideal. However I don't have Nintendo DS so I can't be of any help.

The big white dome is a weather radar! They've been around for many years.

Hey! Last night I have very horrible Connection in my bedroom it never happen in my bedroom! But I have good connection in Kitchen. Because DI-624 is close to it. And I have horrible connection in my bedroom that never happen before. Normally it suppsoe low signal but yesterday I have trouble getting on! I can't even see a page!

I dont see any markings on big white dome. I thought weather radars usually have markings and sit on tall towers until I saw pictures of idenical weather radar in other location. Tall towers turn out is doppler radar domes like as in Charlotte, NC.

Strange... After I changed router configs, laptop has strong connection better than low connection in old config.

Try disable the Extended Range and SSID Broadcast modes.

I did disable them and it not working.. Plus I notice most time on my Wireless Networking list and it said my Wireless is disconnected but I am connecting to internet fine. Do you know why that happen and what up with that?

Does the problems still continue until today? If not, enable the SSID Broadcast mode and leave the Extended Range mode disabled. And set Super G mode to Super G without Turbo to see if it's working.

Did you name the SSID ("your last name here" network as example)?

What's current version of router's firmware? Latest version for DI-264 revision C is 2.76, released in 9/5/2006. I dont know what type of DI-264 you use... There are four revisions (A to D).
