I downloaded and then installed vista rc1 on my computer. It worked well till I tried to connect to the internet. I failed !

I have ADSL connection and an external DSL router modem. I use the ethernet port of the mainboard in my computer. It has worked perfectly on windows XP pro. Yet, vista cannot connect :eek3:

In addition , How can I overcome the activation problem in vista rc1 if I cannot find a solution to this problem ?

Any solution or advice ? Please . Thanks :)

Your asking wrong place! Contact Micro$oft! Remember your downloading and running a beta software, do NOT expect it to run 100% perfect! Your just doing test for Micro$oft and find what is the problem. So, good luck!

I agree with DHB. I also wonder if you are dealing with the out of the box security settings. Check to see if the Windows firewall is enabled. If it is, disable it and see if you can get to the net. Also make sure your network interface is enabled. If it turns out to be the firewall, then re-enable it and configure it for your security likings... If all that fails, contact Micro$oft

Double-check your PPPoE settings or install the DSL modem software onto Vista and see if that corrects your problem. Vista RC1 is very stable and I have not ran into any Internet issues.

Enjoy,
Christopher

I finally found the solution. I downloaded the beta vista driver of the ehternet port of computer and installed it. The beta driver solved the problem. :fingersx:

wow you solved it. learning Vista is interesting tell me your experience with new eye candy graphic. possibly similar GUI as Mac OS X powerful graphics. Apple won't release out until Vista is out first something that new Mac OS X Leopard is serious. I have seen in Apple - Apple - Mac OS X - Leopard Sneak Peek

Sorry buddy. I was busy with finding out the solution to my problems. Now, I am free of issue.. In addition, my realtek based sound chip wasn't worked either.. I downloaded beta vista drivers and got sounds :D

In my first view, Vista looks like a mixture of Linux and Mac GUIs but I'm not sure.. The new GUI is much more friendly and enjoyable.. transparent window sides are impressive but I don't know much about the core of the new operating system. need more experience.

Take care

Me either, your experinece you learn much from Vista and ahead of us. We are curious about new Vista as well. You are lucky to have Vista your effort and learning for your future career. Difficult gives you more experience and how to fix and work between operating system and hardware. :)

Thanks.

You can download the Vista RC1 from microsoft and try it on your computer. I am just in the beginning of the way to being an experinced one. My main career area is mathematics education and I need two more years for it. I'm thinking about starting it in the fall of next year.

If you would like I can send the bootable DVD disc of Vista RC1 by airmail. Special to you ! :)

Hey, that is good that you got the problem solved. That is why I suggested you to contact Micro$oft. Your just like guinea pigs to them, doing all the testing for them.
