Well I had no clue that they were able to go directly into our account.
I had packaged the modem but it's still sitting in the van. I had just enough for our rent in that account. Lastnight we see that AOL took out 106 dollars!
I was like come on, I called them and told them they should have sent a bill ..something! Anyhow we had to transfer money from our savings..blah blah blah. We got it settled, the rent never bounced THANKFULLY! I have never bounced a cheque ~ IN MY LIFE!


Whew! What a morning.
 
Too bad that you went through something like this--as for the service you mentioned, had it for several years and since getting out of it back in '02, never looked back. Although, I do like their instant messaging that they do provide (AIMS) and use it more than any other ones available.

AOL had damaged their public image not long ago when they refused to let customers cancel their account. AOL then offered free email, aim, etc for anyone... and those who cancel AOL. AOL has been on decline lately and I hope they will go out business one day because more and more people have broadband internet these days.
 
I used AOL waay back in '98, it's impossible to get off your computer! I've tried many times with many peoples computers and it always crashes when you try to uninstall.
 
Interesting, I never has any experience with AOL but I heard bad things about AOL.
 
former aoler here, i left the service 2 years ago and never looked back sure i had some good times there when dail up was a factor, now i don't need dail up and i have my cable modem and this helps me in every aspect. Therefore having AOL go downhill makes a good wise decsion for me, they are memory hoggers and crashers in every aspect, they say thier high on protecting when they spam like yesterday's news UGH but, glad we dont use AOL anymore but my family still does and i told them get rid of it they intend to but we need to get them thier wireless card on the computer so i can let them use my router :)
 
I had AOL for few months and my DHB65 said not worth it since we have cable modem so I never looked back either!
PPFHHT to AOL!

I do like AIM! ;)

i always knew when aol will take out money out of my bank account every month.. the trick is to know what date they WILL. so you have to be careful with enough money in bank for them to take out. if too much then u can always call them and complain?

should know better cuz they always take out money ON date you SIGNED up for aol account. anyway.. i never had plms with aol since i signed up in 97.. its going to be 10 yrs for me next year.. wow! time sure fly by so fast! heh.. ;)

I never was an AOL member. I have seen others using AOL in the past times and told them there are better ISPs to use other than AOL. Since then more and more AOL members leave AOL and do see why I told them so.

I only use AOL AIM - FREE! Good thing that it doesn't cost you a penny to use AIM. :ty:

It just amazes me why some of them still uses AOL. :dunno2:
 
Oh, I LOVE AOL!!!!!!!! I never have had problems with AOL. The prices are fine. AOL is the BEST of all.
 
AOL was my former server carrier, and I've always had problems with them, being booted off the Internet, not being able to get on line due to AOL software, being over billed. I just had enough and decide to go for high-speed cable connection, much better and much faster than dial-up connection.

AOL is SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when my 3rd sister lived with my mom that was using AOL which I dont like it and till got plm with it till my mom decided cut AOL off! and call cable to use high speed now much better but now my mom's computer is having plm tsk tsk at my mom lol :lol:

you should belived this bad aol is suck and i read from rotten.com.... that awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! because i read about rotten.com said that call name is "watch aol" of aol
 
I do not like AOL either. For one, it is a monopoly. And when I receive forwards, jokes, etc. from an AOL address, it takes many clicks to open it. Usually, I just delete them without opening.

I have noticed that many deafies have AOL. 'Crab theory, you know.
 
I was member of Aol for 9 years and like it... but decide join comcast with included high speed cable and e.mail
