Does your netbook have touchpad? Does it work? Are you using mouse connection via USB?

If it does not work, then we will need to figure it out and we will need to know what kind of Windows are you using, so that we can guide you to open Control Panel, etc...

Can you go into cursor settings? There should be an option to let you enable/disable mouse?

Do you have an extra mouse anywhere in the house that you can use temporarily?

I've had that problem in the past but I don't remember how I resolved it.

Sometimes that happens if you have disconnected your mouse, and then reconnected it without completely rebooting first. The sequence for connecting peripherals ("extra stuff") can sometimes be very picky. You can try disconnecting your mouse, turning off completely your netbook, wait a minute, then connect your mouse, then turn on computer.

As for your touchpad, check that the touchpad lock isn't set. Depending on the model computer, the lock can be a combination of two keys tapped at the same time. It's easy to happen.

I've also read that shutting down, removing the battery, disconnecting the power, and then rebooting, can be a fix.

I hope that you don't need to reformat. It can be done but it can also be a pain in the rear.

Is your netbook a Windows 7 Starter version, or do you have full Windows 7 OS? It should have a little sticker on it that will show the version that you have (unless you upgraded it yourself).

Make sure you run updates, defragment your hard drive, and restart to refresh RAM often. These can develop issues known to cause conflicts and render your pc useless.

I knew a guy at RIT who formated his computer on a weekly basis.

What a waste time... Most serious gamers (to keep games go smoothly) would reformat every 6 to 12 months. I usually do every year - just to "start over" at clean slate.

He does.

Whenever he gets a pop-up that he didn't like while surfing the internet, he would immediately format his computer. *groans*

Did you try open the mouse trap? That is why it's not moving!
