Hospital regulations require a wheelchair for patients being discharged.

However, while working as a student nurse, I found one elderly gentleman--already dressed and sitting on the bed with a suitcase at his feet--who insisted he didn't need my help to leave the hospital.

After a chat about rules being rules, he reluctantly let me wheel him to the elevator. On the way down I asked him if his wife was meeting him.

"I don't know," he said. "She's still upstairs in the bath- room changing out of her hospital gown."

Well people have their own opinion. Some are hard headed and love not to follow rules.

You misunderstood the joke....the old man was waiting for his wife to get dressed...she was the one in the hospital, not him....the nurse assumed he was the patient.....all in all it was a joke, posted in the joke forum....hard -headness had nothing to do with it.....jeez!!

heee hee hee- OPPS wrong person!!! the nurse must be red faced by then! I'd love to see that!!!!
