Summer concert to raise money for Hearing Dogs For Deaf People charity (From York Press)

LIONS are taking the lead when it comes to helping a charity raise vital funds.

The Lions Clubs of Derwent and Minster are teaming up to put on a summer concert to raise money for Hearing Dogs For Deaf People.

The concert will take place on Saturday, August 14, at Queen Margaret’s School in Escrick and the star performers will be Beverley Male Voice Choir. Tickets are priced at £10 and will include a fizz and canapés reception Lions member, John Newlove said: “We’re combining our efforts this summer to raise as much money as we can for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

“Our groups were moved to learn how hearing dogs can transform the lives of their deaf partners and because the Northern Training Centre is so close-by in Bielby, we wanted to support the charity and help them to make a real difference.

“We still have some tickets available, so please do get in touch and not only enjoy a wonderful evenings’ entertainment but also help to make a difference to the lives of deaf people.”

To book tickets, phone John on 01904 608524.

Hearing dogs alert their deaf owners to everyday sounds, such as an alarm clock, doorbell, baby crying and smoke alarm. More importantly, a hearing dog will also provide greater independence, confidence and security to their owner.
