Good afternoon,

I am a senior in High School taking AP Research. AP Research is a College Board course within the AP Capstone program that emphasizes advanced research and inquiry skills. Students conduct a year-long independent research project, culminating in an academic paper and oral defense, fostering critical thinking and preparing them for college-level research.

I am conducting a research project on the deaf community, specifically focusing on late-deafened individuals and CODA individuals. My study aims to explore how neuroplasticity in late-deafened individuals impacts the assimilation of sign language and the retention of previous language skills.

I am seeking participants who meet the following criteria:

  • Late-deafened individuals between the ages of 25-45 who experienced late-onset deafness at ages 6-18 and are fully assimilating or have assimilated into American Sign Language.
  • CODA individuals between the ages of 25-45 who have a deep understanding of ASL and a spoken language.

If you or someone you know meets these criteria and is interested in participating, please click on the links below to answer the questions. Participation is completely anonymous, and no information will be leaked.

Have a great day.
