Hey all,
I've been wondering for some time now how to sign "made" in the sense of "force" or "initiate". ie: "she made me do it" or "the movie made me upset" My thought is with the second one "Movie-me-upset" but I'm not sure about the first. Silly question I know, but it's driving me nuts!
Thanks in advance,
erica

Two different concepts if someone made you do something that's "she force me." If a movie CAUSED you to be upset, you might sign "movie cause me upset." Make would only be the sign I'd use in PSE or when being lazy. (So, often.) ;)

Generally, if really trying not to be PSE, I end up changing the phrasing away from English. I might end up saying: "Past I watch movie. It upset me."

FORCE.

Although even though I was told in my ITP not to sign "MAKE ME LAUGH," that's pretty much how I've only ever seen it signed.
