After years of having my hearing diminish to deafness I am at my wits end to what my next move should be.
Total deaf in right ear when I was 13 (now 54) with severe tinnitus in both ears since then and now have lost my usable hearing in left ear. Told I am not a candidate for CI and do not use my aid because what little noise it produces is distorted. It's like Charlie Browns parents at best.

My Doctor put me on leave for stress and anxiety back in December and now I am out of time. My job at a hospital was in high public contact and they said that I must either return to work or they must fill my position and I can see if something else opens up. No offer of disability at this time.

I didn't plan on losing my hearing before I could retire and now I suffer from panic attacks in public places have depression and anxiety and live in fear that I can't really describe. I don't think I can possibly do my old job and don't know what to do. I can read lips some but when I had a little bit of hearing....well at least you could get by.

My wife had me apply for SSD not knowing if I would go back to work but all this is so new to me.

I would love to see what you think here.

Advice?

Thanks,

Chris
