SPOKEN SILENCE FILMS & PRODUCTIONS announces that a “documentary series” is currently in its developmental stages. This project is considered to be the most comprehensive documentary about the DEAF that will be done during our times. It will showcase the following topics:

• An historical look at deafness
• Causes and treatment of deafness and its social impacts on deaf people and society
• Deaf culture, language, schools, and controversies
• Deaf achievements in the arts, science, sports, and entertainment

The development team is currently accepting “deaf stories” from individuals and organizations to be considered worthy of inclusion in this documentary. Please email your story or stories to: development@spokensilence.com.

-------- IMPORTANT ------
Stories and/or ideas should be in WORD format, and must include:
• Name
• Address
• Telephone number (V/TTY-TDD)
• Email address

Stories and/or ideas that will be considered for the project will be contacted only via email. Anonymous materials or submissions without the above information will be not accepted.

This is a non-profit project and the producers are still in the process of “soliciting” funds. This means that WE can not tell you is that any submitted stories and/or suggestions that are to be included in this project will be monetarily compensated, but for now we can guarantee that they will at least be given “credit rights.” Should monetary funding become available, the writers and originators of their stories will be “financially rewarded” accordingly. AGAIN….we can ONLY guarantee your names in the credits of the film and all the printed materials accompanying the film during its promotion.

Submitted ideas and stories will be reviewed by a panel of story editors and television producers who are dedicated to working on this project. Although our lead executive producers prefer to stay anonymous, we can certainly assure you are they are “legitimate” television producers and that any and all submitted materials will be treated with fairness and confidentiality during the initial and final stages of project development.

Should your material be considered as one of the “featured stories” for a specific episode, you will be personally notified by e-mail, fax, or handwritten letter - depending on the contact information that was given to the development team. That is why it is so important to place all the pertinent contact information in and on your materials.

Let us make it clear that when submitting your story, you can submit a one or two page essay or a summary of the topic you want to be featured. We emphasize the necessity of including the COMPLETE CONTACT INFORMATION. Should the SCREENING COMMITTEE be interested in your story, then they will contact you personally and talk to you about the story you have submitted. If your story is selected and is to be added to the line-up of episodes, you will then be asked to sign a “RELEASE AGREEMENT” - this just means that YOU give the producers of the show total authority to telecast and use your story for the show. We hope to see and read your story either through email and/or snail mail. We will also accept a video tape of your story. However, your video tape WILL NOT be returned to you.

There is a story to tell!

Please tell us your story, tell us your family’s story. It is our goal to tell about the different “facets” of Deaf life, the Deaf culture, the Deaf individual, and the people who work with the Deaf.

At present, only 3 episodes will start pre-productions in the summer of 2006. The stories that will be considered for the show between now and spring of 2007 won’t start production until the fall of 2007.
