( I got this in my e-mail from Deafdigest.com )

Last week's DeafDigest said that comparing Gallaudet,
NTID and CSUN is tantamount to comparing apples, oranges
and pears. It also said that NTID is one of RIT's 8 colleges
on the huge campus.

Alan Hurwitz, the NTID director, weighed in with his
comment:

I wish to point out that NTID has a mixture of self contained
classes at NTID utilizing direct instruction methodology
(similar to but really different from Gallaudet in terms of
mission) and a large number of deaf and hard of hearing
students (42% of total NTID students or approximately 450
students) who are fully matriculated baccalaureate degree
students in 7 other colleges of RIT which is very similar
to CSUN.

He also said:

Regardless, I am thrilled that Roz is taking over the helm
at CSUN/NCOD!

Thanks, Alan for making the clarification.
