I am hearing, and am hoping to have a quick interview with someone who is Deaf for my ASL class. I will avoid asking strange questions, only seeking information about growing in Deaf culture, and the similarities or any differences in today's culture. Something as "what about when you take a taxi?", or when shopping in Best Buy. What exists to assist between using English speaking and using signed language? Did you receive instruction on using spoken language or not?
I do not aim to offend anyone, but through my class I have been fortunate to take notice of a culture that lives right along in society, but can have different experiences, and I want to learn.
