    New from Florida

HI artr - I am new here too. I am 26 years old deaf in my right ear with hearing loss in my left that degrades over time - not so quickly like yours. Hearing aids are pretty cool if you ask me (though I've worn them my whole life).

I agree wishing does not change but the lessons we have recieved through experience is cruical and could position us to be able to help others. Dhh programs that I went towere too little and insufficent to really build the self confidence and social skills needed to grow.

    Hearing school

I want to correct myself - the approach would be to find an education that fits. I meant that if its a challenging situation like mainstream school I would probably change that to deaf school (seen as most impractical given family situation) or do something highly supplementary like using a sign...

    Hearing school

I'm new to the fourm - I haven't participated in one of these for years but the whole Hearing - Deaf school concept is a huge issue for me. I grew up through the hearing schools and was bullied mercilessly. It may be true that you would be bullied at a deaf school, but to assume that...

@deafdyke - I've noticed crossovers too and I have also met completely deaf - Deaf people who I absolutely admire and am very jealous of. I grew up oral. My voice is the same as a hearing person's - that confuses (frustrates) many who think I can normally.

Hi, my name is Aaron. I live in Texas although my family is from Illinois. I am deaf in my right ear and hearing loss in my left. I grew up mainstream/oral/hearing culture but had many challenges with it (there was no other hard of hearing or deaf playmate...) I hope to be able to find...
