thank you all for your encouragement! We are very excited, and are actually looking to move into a larger home. Our two bedroom home will not work very well for a family of 5. Her ABR is showing a loss anywhere between 100 db and 115 db depending on the frequency. I have no doubts that my...

    Some News, CI journey

Ok, so my BrideGroom and I went in to see the Surgeon this Morning, and the good news, he believes that the CI will benefit me well, and I believe that we will be going with AB, but we also have a long journey in-front of us before I can get the surgery so we have more time to figure out if we...

    Decision is Made

I'm sorry, but I disagree with you. I have always had a severe loss, but my hearing aids were not a crutch for me, they allowed me to access the world around me and people who did not sign. I do not see how that is a crutch.

This is what I am wanting...her to have every opportunity just as I did. This is why we are thinking about a CI, so she can have everything

The surgeon has done all three, and had shown me all three. They said that ab is best for music, but cochlear is the most reliable and med el had the longest electrode, though they haven't seen that to have much of an impact as med el likes to say it does... I guess we are going to have to...

So thankful that my BrideGroom is done with work for the summer (and that he declined teaching summer school) This means that he won't be bringing home any germs right now... we can't have my girls being getting sick...

    Decision is Made

because my children were in the hospital, I was unable to keep my appointment with the CI Surgeon, so I have had to reschedule. I am having to wait another month for my consult with him, to determine a date for surgery. My BrideGroom and I have also decided, especially with the recent bout...

    how to deal?

we are home... finally... 11 days in the hospital... RSV was found in Amaya, we almost lost her 3 times. Ally came to the hospital 3 days after Amaya, also with RSV, but she ended up being ready to be released a full day before her (they kept Ally until Amaya was ready to go home, just to be...

    how to deal?

Ok... so a spinal tap on a 6 month old... extremely frightening... Seeing my little girl in so much pain, and not being able to do anything about it... something no mother should ever have to go through... but some good updates. she is off the ventilator! The steroids they have been giving...

if her change of view is sincere, and I believe it is, she has been very civil and understanding, that is all that matters. what do you mean by inside information though? My hope is that people understand that I am doing what is best for my daughter as well as myself, and that the only...

    how to deal?

why... because I am sitting next to her bed while she sleep... watching over her, I am on when there is no nurse or doctor in the room, while she is sleeping, with my hand touching hers... praying to my Heavenly Father that he Heals her, hoping that other people will be compassionate enough to...

NYTimes Blog: Teaching a Deaf Child Her Mother’s Tongue

Yes, she is there to teach David (My Bridegroom), as well as his parents occasionally, ASL. She has been doing a wonderful job explaining the grammatical aspects to them, as well as not letting them slide as much when they sign things wrong (I apparently have been much too lenient with them)...

    how to deal?

The last 30 hours or so have been the scariest in my life. I had to rush one of my baby girls to the emergency room after going to feed the girls. I picked them up, and Ally was fine and excited to be getting food (though she was sadly disappointed for a while, until daddy made her a bottle)…...

NYTimes Blog: Teaching a Deaf Child Her Mother’s Tongue

Yes. After fighting and fighting we were able to get the early intervention services we wanted and needed for miss Ally. She has sessions every other week in our home with a SLP, who is fluent in ASL. Our IFSP also has an ASL teacher coming in once a week to be sure my husband is learning, and...

NYTimes Blog: Teaching a Deaf Child Her Mother’s Tongue

Yes I remember being involved in my IEP when we first moved here, my parents were in shock that they didn't have to fight as hard for services here. I am very pleased to be living here, though I wish we were a tad closer to a school that offered wonderful services. I do want my girls to be able...

Thank you. My initial impression of you may have been wrong, and I offer my sincerest apologies for that. I find it difficult at times to remember that I should not judge people by their actions or words, only our Father in Heaven can judge people, and it is based on the content of their hearts...
