    bicycle signs

Sign Language for Auto Shop Here is a link to some signs for auto mechanics. Not sure how many you'll be able to use since cars are so different from bikes, but I hope there are at least a couple.

Were you lied by schools and/or parents that you were "hearing?"

31, Ohio and no special accomadations were made for me. Not even front row seating in school. I was led to believe that I was just slightly hard of hearing my whole life until recently when I became active in the Deaf community and began to learn sign and realized that a profound/severe loss is...

    Hi Alldeaf

Aww... I think that's just the sweetest damn thing I've ever read. Then again I guess it would only be fair if I let everyone know that I'm the wife you're referring to :D My husband joined this forum after I told him how much reading here has helped me to feel less inferior as an individual...

    Trying to Understand the Deaf

I think you're mistaking people being genuinely happy with themselves and who they are with something else. You seem to think there is something wrong with being proud of being D/deaf, I'm curious why that is? Secondly, deaf people can audists too. It's an attitude and a train of opinions...

    Annoying ignorant hearing people stories

I am only speaking for myself here but having someone say it simply because of some perceived fault is annoying. I don't mind when people pray for me on issues that I need help with or have requested prayers for, but when someone looks at my deafness and decides I'm broken and damaged therefore...

    Growing Deaf Community on Google+

Keep trying, maybe it's due to the traffic. Yiz sent me an invite and I was able to get in about an hour ago. :ty: Yiz! On a side note I haven't quite figured out how to use it yet, but it look interesting. Hopefully I have more time to play around there tomorrow.

    "What?" or "Pardon me?"

I remember when my 12 year old daughter was just a tiny little thing. Whenever anyone spoke to her she would look at them and say "Huh... what?" Sometimes she would wait for them to repeat it, and other times she would say it and then proceed to repsond to their inquiry. For example "Tay, do...

How can I improve my finger spelling speed?

Something I see a lot of hearing people do when they are trying to read fingerspelled words is to see each letter and then attempt to put them together as a word in thier head. By the time they figure out what the word is the other person has already signed quite a few other things. The best...

    Where is everyone from?

I am from Ohio, outside of the Cincinnati area. It's actually quicker for me to get to Kentucky than it is for me to drive to Cincy.

    Hearing Test this Thursday

Interesting, higher frequencies are what the general population usually have trouble hearing even if they don't have any loss of hearing. My un-professional assessment is that you're just weird :giggle: does that make you feel any better? Actually it does sound like what Bottesini said...

    Hearing Test this Thursday

I'm confused, it was in a soundproof box with headphones and a clicker or it wasn't and you expected it to be? Our family doctor will do a preliminary test using just headphones and a sound machine, but we have to go to an audiologist for a more conclusive test. Did you get an audiogram?

Celiac Disease...anyone here deal with it?

I grew up with my sister who was diagnosed with it when I was two, but don't personally have it myself. My Mom modified a lot of our meals so that my sister didn't feel left out so we ate a lot of brown rice instead of pasta. My nephew has it as well, and when he stays with me I can always...

Hearing Speech and Deaf Center Opens Health Library Read more: http://www.sunherald.

This is kind of funny in a highly ironic way. There are three Hearing Speech and Deaf centers in the greater Cincinnati area and the one nearest to me currently doesn't have anyone employed who can converse in ASL. Not the audiologists, speech therapist or even the receptionist. You figure if...

What Anime Have You Watched Lately?

Oh no, I'll have to look for that. I knew they were making a second one and waited and waited and it never came out and then I forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me. The Tenchi's are the older ones I think, Ryo-Ohki and Universe and I think one other but I can't remember which one it is...

What Anime Have You Watched Lately?

Rurouni Kenshin is good, Vampire Hunter D and of course Ninja Scroll. We have some goofy ones that are good for a laugh like Ranma 1/2 and Tenchi Muyo. Considering my favorite movie ever is City Hunter with Jackie Chan, don't trust my taste too much :laugh2:
