How are you feeling with your CI so far?

:P That's so true how it is with the CI... If it works for the person we can hear alot of different things... but we also have the power to make all those annoying sounds just vanish!

    questions while awaiting activation

I would make sure my child would benefit from HA first before going the CI route.. If he/she had no benefit. Then I would be discussing the probability that my child would benefit from a CI. I know first hand what these devices will provide a person (variables included) and I would not shy away...

    Activation Day...

For me my first weeks with my CI.. WATER was the worst.. It did not matter if it was comming out of a faucet or the toilet flushing it was so intense. But after awhile it just somehow becomes normal and is no longer loud like that. I am extremely pleased to read that your (A)day was a...

Late Deafened....When did you Come out of the Closet

Never tried to hide my late onset deafness.. It was just something I had to deal with and learn to adapt to. It took me a long time to get comfortable with it. But I never once pretended to be a hearing person since.

Back for another try at the HA/CI section!

F1885, My experience in noisey enviroment's are touch and go really. For me it depends on who I am conversing with. Some people I can hear really well in those places and others I have to rely on lipreading. For the most part it is alot easier than it was for me when I did the 3 month HA...

Back for another try at the HA/CI section!

Hey everyone, I have taken a few month's away from the site to kinda take a sit back and let things go for awhile. I had taken something's that have been said in this section of the forum quite personally and I had said something's that probably should never have been said. With that being...

How much do you wear your hearing aids?

Only time I do not wear my CI is as follow's.... Shower/ Sleep/ Or when I am ill.. Other than that It's on all the time. The only way to get better with using the device is actually using it. I love my CI and have not regretted having the surgery at all.

    Zebadee's Activation.

Deb, The processor is light as a HA if not lighter and there's no mold so you won't have the stuffy feeling.. You might experience a little discomfort since your sensitive still behind the ear ( I was) but just be gentle for the next week or so with it and you should be fine.

Zee, I am so glad that you're adjusting at a rapid pace with the CI.. It's a neat device. Just wait till you get better programs it just gets better and better all the time. I go through minor spells of not hearing the greatest once in a blue moon ( congestion maybe) but I would never look...

    CI and balance Issues

Deb, I have no input on what balance therapy entails. But I was notified by my surgeon that balance could be afected for a short time after the surgery. I have not had any balance issues due to my implant. But then again I've never had the best balance to speak of before the surgery. I sure hope...

    Enough is Enough...

Alicia, That's sad that the board has more less pushed you to no longer want to post about your experience's and thought's on your own recourse. I truely enjoyed reading your post's on here. I wish you well in whatever you decide to do even tho I know you are seeking the CI. Good luck...

If you're deciding on a CI or decided not to get one

This was a good post. I don't understand why some here think that we get a CI or HA that we aren't at term's with our deafness. That is what bothers me the most about some poster's here. They assume before knowing the facts!!
