Facebook Parenting: Troubled teen. (did the father overreact?)

Of course she's behaving fine. Probably scared out of her wits. Using scare tactics such as this one means he as a parent is reacting, when he should have been proactive. Destroying property? If his wife did something he did not like and he destroyed her laptop, we say it is emotional abuse...

    Deaf Parents of Deaf kids

FF, this is a good thread, and I also am curious to see what other DEAF people, especially parents, think of implanting. I wish people would respect AllDeaf's forum rules and respect the OP and stay on topic. There's so much talk about how important it is for a deaf person to speak, but...

    Deaf Parents of Deaf kids

    Deaf Parents of Deaf kids

Mom and Dad said I had a great childhood, was well-adjusted, bright, had friends, and was generally happy. Funny...I don't remember it that way at all. I was a good at pleasing them, which morphed me into being a co-dependent who would do anything to keep others happy. Smile, nod, pretend you...

    You use that for WHAT?

Thanks to Pinterest, I got lots of ideas on how to be creative with using things...for example, use cheap curtian rods to hold wrapping paper.

    Deaf Parents of Deaf kids

Not important to have perfect speech? Then why bother with it? Imperfect speech makes the person look and sound dumb, at least in our society. What is "good enough?" When a child reaches his/her plateau? But a deaf person can have perfect expressive skills through manual communication...why...

What are you thinking about? Part V

Off today. Taking the kid to get a MRI done for the ENT to look at her ear. I'm nervous...she will be sedated, but they probably need to sedate me too, lol

    How do you sign...

I sign idiom by using both pinky fingers (almost like I am signing the letter I with both hand) and doing a quotation mark type gesture with the pinky fingers.

    Codas

Same way a hearing child will mumble instead of speaking up and clearly. They mumble in ASL. lol
