For those who don't understand homosexuality

If that describes your experimentation/dabbling with homosexuality, PowerON, then I hate to be the one to tell you.... but.... you're doing it wrong! :P

Skiing's OK... not one of my FAVORITE things to do, but it can be fun. Of the three that you mention, I suppose downhill would be my favorite. If you could undo one thing that happened in your life yesterday (whether it was something that YOU did, or something that happened TO you), what...

Technically, I think 5... because if you're an AOL member, you automatically have AIM names, and I have 5 SNs on my AOL account. However, I only ever really use 2 for IMing. Do you plan to travel for the upcoming winter holidays? If so, to where?

LOL, YES! I bought 3 bags of candy a few weeks ago, and slowly, they've all disappeared! I'm NEVER buying Halloween candy so early again! What is your favorite period in history, and why?

Aren't we wasting time with HAs...

I heard it mentioned recently that SUPPOSEDLY, some audiology and doctor's offices receive kickbacks (ie, $$$ compensation) for referring patients to certain CI vendors. Does anyone know if there is any truth to these rumors?? If so, I can see why some doctors and audiologists are so quick...

    Deaf culture - do's and don'ts, etc. Let's make a list!

My experience is that in SOME hearing cultures, it's rude to point. Hispanic and some Asian cultures seem to have the biggest problems with it. One of my best friends is from the Philippines, and she told me that instead of pointing with their fingers, they point with their lips! :giggle...

    N00b Questions about CIs

    I need some advice please.

I realize that it's a "done deal" already, and I 100% understand your reasons for wanting to keep your son happy, etc. That said, a word or two of caution: There are legal implications involved in photographing minors, even by other minors! I work in a public school, as well as the summer...

    N00b Questions about CIs

OK, I know these questions might seem a little crazy, but a group of my friends from class and I got to talking about CIs the other day, and we found ourselves wondering about the "environmental hazards" that might accompany wearing a CI.. For example: Does wearing a CI make you more prone...

    Experiences with my daughter.

Sorry if it seemed like I was analyzing you, that wasn't my intent. I was more addressing the motivation that brings/brought you to this forum (both the REAL motivation, as well as your stated motivation, which I happen to believe aren't quite in synch with one another), which is quite germane...

    Experiences with my daughter.

I don't believe that's true at all. In therapy, part of dealing with the problems a person is experiencing in their life is CONFRONTING those problems, and confronting the issues of the past. This is usually NOT a comfortable experience... but repressing "depressive memories" isn't DEALING...

    Experiences with my daughter.

Pragmatically accepting who and what you are, and how you got there is all well and good... but I, too, think there's a grain of truth in what Bear said about you reaching out to other members of the deaf (small "d"; by your own admission, you don't embrace Deaf culture) community, to learn from...

22 year old guy having sex with a 16 year old girl

As someone who began experimenting when I was 12 years old, and who was having sex by the time I was 15 or 16, I can tell you that I knew what I wanted at that age. The question remains as to whether or not I was actually READY for it (psychologically, not physically... I was "all grown up" in...

Risk of Bacterial Meningitis and Death in Children with Cochlear Implants

I ran across the following article this morning, about parents who "fake" religious objections in order to refuse vaccinations for their children. The story can be found here: Parents claim religion to avoid vaccines for kids - Kids & Parenting - MSNBC.com
