    Proccessor falling

Wow, a six pack lasts you even a week? I'm still on the 3G BTE 22, and I go through a six pack in a little over two DAYS - I have to change about once a day (3 batteries at a time). Well, a change does last a little longer than a day, but not much - if I change the batteries at noon one day...

What Books Have You Recently Purchased?

Gang Leader for a Day by Sudhir Venkatesh - he's a sociologist. The experience he talks about in the Chicago suburbs was actually the subject of a chapter in Freakonomics, if you've heard of that. Quite a good read if you're interested in culture and social issues.

Biologist: Having sex on a first date may lead to long term relationship

Actually, my wife and I had sex on the first date, and, um, the morning after the first date, and, um... well, you get the idea...:giggle: I think there's a lot to be said for each individual's preferences. If you want religion and/or morals to be involved, okay, if you don't, that should be...

    Proccessor falling

Wow - those prices are pretty crazy. I'm really curious how much of that is Cochlear and how much is the reseller jacking up prices. I have definitely noticed over the past few years that Cochlear has gotten much more profit-centered - notice how they push you to use their special batteries...

    Crickets

hehe, one of those blessings that turns into a curse after awhile in a way, if they're prevalent where you live! :)

    question

Definitely look into having a rep "assist" - you don't want to hurt your audie's feelings if you're "stuck" with them, so maybe you could find a way to word it that would help - maybe say you were talking with someone and they suggested this because of some kind of new trick or technology or...

    CI blog for my daughter

Saw the pictures - she looks so cranky in the one picture with her bandage on - cute! Hope activation goes well - only 10 more days!

    Hearing aids for profound losses

My audiologist (in a hospital) has often told me she thinks it's just human nature that audies who also dispense HA's will encourage more people to use them. She says she isn't telling me to try it, and doesn't think it will really help, but wouldn't be hurt if I did. I'm halfway tempted to...

    I gots good news

It sounds like you're doing great, ladycaissa! If you're looking for something to listen to on the radio, I've found PBS is actually easy to listen to because of the type of programs they have - more talking, less, uh, screaming and cavorting as you might find on a typical "morning show" - oi...

    New Audiologist and New HA's

LOL, LadySekhmet... I had that problem finding speech therapists when I was younger - we'd find a therapist and she'd be like ... why are you seeing me? We went through a couple like that before we found one to stick with who was used to seeing kids who wanted to improve beyond "good enough"...

update on my 9.5-week old son - now has HA's

You're very seriously off-putting. I pray that no parents come into contact with you - not because your ideas are so wrong, but because you could do real damage to a child's chances of growing up with the best opportunities available to them. Guess what? Someone who grows up with ONLY ASL...

update on my 9.5-week old son - now has HA's

I feel compelled to respond to two points, both of which resonated with me. The first: [/B] This is SO SO TRUE! The implant is just a TOOL - one that really requires work and dedication to use in the most effective way possible. The implant itself is, in general, going to perform its...

    CI scar

I can still feel my scar and it's noticeable if I get my hair cut too short. My implant was done in 1990, so it's been awhile! From pictures I've seen, the newer implants have SIGNIFICANTLY smaller, less noticeable scars.

    do our own adjustments?

Just a data point: I have heard of an adult CI recipient who purchased some hardware and was able to do some of his own T and C levels and such at home. Those of us who have been doing this for years know the process like the back of our hands - I know there are many people who do at least some...

Long-time CI user, looking for advice going forward - N22 Freedom?

Just to post back, I'm still waiting on the Freedom 22 BTE to arrive. I have a date set with my audiologist, though - June 24! Looking forward to that, though because my 3G BTE (that will be traded in) is having moisture issues, I've been relegated to my Spectra for a couple of weeks now...
