Its a lil different if youre a woman. Ive gotten second looks from cops. I also walk with a limp, which sometimes mistaken for impairment. Whatever, if you smoke and drive, its best to be carefull

yeah, hearing aides are high maintenance. The headphones will probably work if it can be adjusted to boost the proper frequencies. I like idea of headphones. Something to wear around the house, then wear the ha's outside.

wow. Yeah, a guy at work wanted to fight me because he was talking at me from behind and assumed I was ignoring him. My co-worker explained my deafness, but I would have gladly thrown down.:D

yes, deaf people sometimes miss social cues. Something simple as standing too close to hear better, can come off as invading personal space. Or maybe reading lips instead of making eye-contact. I suspect AS and deafness has overlapping issues with social interaction.

btw, I don't think hearing loss affects ability to drive. If you speak with a deaf accent, the cop is going to suspect impairment and investigate further. Obviously, don't smoke and drive. Also, don't go around smelling like reefer either. They need probable cause to search you. If...
