A cabbie apparently thought I was ignoring him today. He said something to my fiance, who responded, "she has severely diminished hearing and can't hear a thing you say." I do tend to not pay any attention to anyone outside anymore. That indicator just isn't there anymore.

"Deaf wannabe". First time I've ever heard of anyone wanting to be deaf...or blind. If they do, I bet they'd change their tune if they really did go deaf.

This is what I struggle with. 8 out of 10 people that I tell, "I'm nearly deaf, sorry, I can't make what you're saying out" completely ignore this. They don't seem to believe that I really can't hear them. They continue speaking at the same level, or go, "oh, that's fine, so am I." (Most aren't)

Hi. I'm newly (last 6 months) hoh. Still adjusting to this new way of life, and there are no support systems where I live, that I know of anyways. Not much else to say, other than what I'll post.
