how old were you do manual transmission?

21. Just married. My husband taught me. I stalled pickup on busy city street!
 
I learned to drive a manual transmission when I first learned to drive. I didn't own an automatic transmission car for 10 years after getting license. I am currently driving my first automatic car. Of course, I do miss driving a manual transmission car.
 
If I recall correctly, I learned how to drive one when I was 13. It was a model A that my dad had and he taught me to drive a stick. Looking back, I now am proud to say that first stick I drove was a Ford Model A. How many people today can say that?

Keep in mind. I am now 36.

^^ I could say that because I never ridden in a vintage Ford in the early 1900's.
 
My first several vehicles were manual transmissions. Started about age 23.

1/2-ton military truck and Navy staff cars (Well, they didn't belong to me but I had to drive them. :) )

VW Beetle convertible

Porsche 914

Opal Kadette

Chevy Vega

Dodge Dart Sport

Datsun hatchback

Dodge Colt

I think those were all the standard shift vehicles that I drove.
 
I was 12--14 yrs old....farm machinery....
 
Learned at 17 years old when I got my first vehicle which was an 88 Nissan truck.
 
I learned when I was 24.

My parents always had automatic transmission for their cars as well as mine. My mom got a car and my dad got a car that had manual transmission... in 1999 and 2000. Since I always had my own car, I never bothered.

When I came back in town from Rochester for a couple weeks, I needed to borrow their car... so I learned. :)

My brother taught me better than my dad did. :roll:

Learned to drive stick when I was around 13 yrs old.. on real old toyota corolla. I would snuck in mom's bedroom to get the key and drive the car around the farm road... I never got trouble from mom.. recently I told her about it.. she was shocked.. lol.. o'well...
 
Learned to drive at 17 but re - learnt at 18 and now full time manual driver since 2007 when I purchased my first manual car. :)
 
I learned how to stick shift I think I was 20 or 21. I told my hubby that next car would be stick shift and he said sure no problem...as long as we find one and fit out budget etc. :) I do miss it!! Now we have automatic...boring!
 
23 years old bought my first car - 1995 Saturn SL 1, 5 speed manual. Totaled last October!

Now stuck with automatic - had no choice for wife did not want to learn.

Does ride on Lawn Mower Ride on counts as Manual Transmission? I know it not the same as cars.

If so, I was 17 years old: 1.5 acres steep hill mowing the lawn at home for 2 hours.

As for cars I do want to learn manual transmission.

i am 22 now.

i didn't realized that i never had an automatic car. i had like 12 rides all in my past time haha. that's crazy.

First car:
1984 Civic Sedan Lx (Motor blows @ 298k mileages)
1996 Toyota Tacoma (dad gave me but sold it)
1992 Isuzu Truck (it was ok. i dont like it and sold it)
1990 Jeep Wrangler (Offroad was great but transmission is bad. of course it's JEEP)
1995 Civic Hatch (it was a good car but sold double money after i fixed it)
2005 Civic Coupe Ex (i dont like it and gave it to my brother)
1990 and two 1991 - Three (Honda) CRXs i owned same time but sold them all for getting awesome car
2005 Civic Si i am owner of it right now :) I LOVE IT!

Denis (extancy) did ride in my car last april. I think well i can't remember :P

yes it's all maunal. i drive a stick for 8 years. i never get tired of it. haha.

Nice, I drove CRX before and awful slow than Civic. CRX is very good gas like 40mpg or more.
