What if you find $100 or $1,000 in envelope with her/his name?, will you give it back? (People thinks it's the right things to do when give it back).

And What would you do if you saw someone drop wallet or things on floor?
(Some people keep it, ohhh...that's not good).

i will give to rightful owner.

my job: To PROTECT (to protect the thefts) and to SERVE (to return to rightful owner). I have to made the oath under the city.

im not kind of person who will take advantage to steal that money, its pointless. If i found a 100 bucks on the ground and its nobody's own, i would probably give a donate instead keep it. Its not right and i dont earn or deserve it. Karma will get it back to, yikes.

when i was 12, i was in the locker room after PE. i was all alone and running late. someone left a wallet in an open locker. i didn't even open it and brought it straight to the coach's office. i would do the same today. i may be a rotten, nihilistic asshole but i've had packages stolen from my home and i know what it feels like to have your shit stolen.

speaking of which, the local police made the news recently with a little "sting" they did in the mall where they planted a wallet and would arrest anyone who picked it up. the police could never prove, of course, that anyone they'd arrested (about 10 of them, i think there were) weren't going to take the wallet straight to lost and found, so they couldn't actually charge anyone. it was just a fear tactic to try and inspire people to be good citizens. sad that it takes the threat of police action to get anyone to do the right thing.

Bingo...Right..Good example :)

That has happened to me twice. Once when my family & I were at the 'Ekka' (State fair) and my 2 kids found a wallet on the ground. I was proud of my kids when they passed it onto us so we handed it over to the police on the fairgrounds. It was a high school student's purse with $30 in it which is a lot of money to this particular teenager.

The second time, when I saw a purse/wallet accidentally left on the counter out of sight, in a newsagent. Handed it in, no problems.

But if it was a small coin like a dime or whatever lying on the ground, I'll pick it up discreetly and if nobody around, either keep it or donate it in a charity money tin. If I did see the person dropping the money, I'll give it back.

Of course I'd give it back to rightful owner even if the bag contained $1,000,00. I certainly don't want any mafia musclemen hunting for my ass.... remember "No Country for Old Men" ?? <shiver>

What's interesting....if you're a janitor for a bank or a nice office space. Sometimes, they will test you if you are dumb enough to steal that money laying on their desk...that means u're no good and you will be fired when they find it missing. They will lay $1,000 bill or a few thousand dollar bills or even a million dollar bill to test you.

ha ha good test!

ha ha good test!

Yeah, that's what my friend told me. She saw a $10,000 bill laying on the desk but she wasn't interested in stealing it and she knew they were testing her. She went and continued to do the job.

Well, I work at the register and I'm never tempted to steal.

So, I'll give back the money to rightful owner, if can be traced, if I found an envelope with money in it.

I've worked at Disney World and you wouldn't believe how often people forget something valuable. I've turned in 18 purses, 1 wallet, and 4 credit cards abandoned at ATMs. I asked a female coworker why so many purses are left behind, she says one reason may be that women may not have gotten used to their new purses yet. My advice, take an old familiar purse! LOL

She'd be crazy to take it, $10,000.00 bills do not exist. LOL

i think that's more of an intelligence test than an ethics test.

That's entrapment.

I'd return it. :)

One time, a customer left $1,000 on the counter at the local video rental store I worked at. I called her and she came back happy that I saved it. :)
