Neighborhood Lab is a terrorist!!

You wont believe this story!! Yesterday while my husband was
in the shop working on his riding lawn mower, this lady across the
road (her husband is a truck driver) came over and was asking for
help cuz this nasty black lab (we know who it belongs to and we know
it is a mean one) got loose (again) apparently his yard leash got
broken, was terrorizing her at her home, probably cuz she has a
little dog. She said he was growling at her and all so she got scared
and got in her car quickly and drove over to our house and saw my
hubby in the shop and begging for help..so he got in his pickup and tried
to get that dog but he tried to bite him!! The owners were away at work,
ugh...so after a few tries, he roped that dog and tied him to their mailbox
but after awhile, HE GOT LOOSE AGAIN! the poor lady called the sheriff cuz
the lab was terrorizing her again! she called the sheriff and he came out to
look for the dog. The sheriff knew the owner so the owner got off work early.
Well, we were at their mailbox trying to fix the mailbox as it was nearly
torn down just trying to be nice...the owner drove up and the dog came out
of nowhere....the owner CUSSED MY HUSBAND OUT!! FOR WHAT?? My
husband explained what happened...the lady is the one who asked for help
and she the one called the sheriff..geez. The guy was still pissed off at my
husband, for what?? he didnt do nothing but tried to help the lady from the
mean dog, geez. Oh well, from now on, we are not going to help nobody...
My husband said next time that happens, hes gonna tell her or anybody
"ALL THE COPS"! hes not gonna help no more cuz the owner was really
pissed off at my husband when he should be pissed at the lady....geeeez!
NOT FAIR!
Can you believe this...what is wrong with this dog owner???
Another thing, you think labs are nice dogs..?? yeah, right!...this one is
a mean SOB! he almost bit my husband in the face......crikey.
 
Whoaaaaaaaaaaa just tell the neighbor that you or your hubby willing to call animals control. I dont blame ya at all.

Yes, but the lady should have called the animal control in the first
place not my husband, heh..
She did asked if it was our dog cuz she just moved into the area so
she didnt know..and my husband was just being nice and tried to
help but it backfired..oh well.

who asked my hubby for help SHOULD HAVE CALLED THE
ANIMAL CONTROL, NOT HIM!
He never will help nobody again especially when it comes to that
mean black Lab!!!! :ugh3:
 
Oh my dear, it´s really nice of your hubby to willing his help a lady and hold the dog until the cop came... The dog´s owner should thank your hubby for tried to held his dog...

Yes I do agree that if any happeend in the future then call animal control to save hassle and stress.

Oh no, the dog's owner was very hateful and he just cussed him
out but for what?..i guess cuz he thought he called the cop on him but
he didnt, as he told him that the lady did, as she was terrified of the
dog. So of course he did not thank him at all...
Yes, the lady was very nice and she thanked my husband for helping her.
Like i said earlier in posts, my husband said...never again he will help
anybody..especially with that mean black Lab...he will simply call the
animal control if he ever break loose again.
 
You blamed the dog not the owner? You called the lab a terrorist?

After reading your story here, the owner tied the dog to the mailbox. number one that's animal cruelty, who would be in the right mind would tie a dog to a mailbox?

then the dog got loose, and terrorizing a lady on her yard? What exactly did the dog do?
 
cheri.. the owner was not home when they tie the dog to the mailbox but it got loose again and kept terrorizing the lady with small dog. the dog almost bite her husband in face? close call. I dont blame them for trying to do something about the dog. i would call police and reported the dog and ask them to help to do something about the dog. terrorizing people or kids is big no no!

I re-read it again, my mistake I apologizes. If I were them I would call animal control, not tie a dog to a mail box, that's animal cruelty.

First of all, your neighorhood should have called the police or animal control immediatly if she felt she was in a dangerous position or the dog happened to be on her property, second, your husband shouldn't have got involved in this situation since this lady hasn't been attacked that cause harm or biten by this dog here, I would not approach an aggressive dog unless someone has been attacked or mauled so badly but you also need to remember that a dog is trained and only knows what it's taught or not taught... It's really not the dog's fault, and in most cases, it's usually neglect or ignorance on the owners part....Next time if something like this does happen, and if you feel that your life is in danger, then carry a pepper spray ( like those mailmen carry with them ) or a stun gun ( aim into the air, not at the dog ) to protect yourself from being attacked by a pet...

And oh one more thing, blame the DEED not the BREED ....
 
I think the lady should have called the animal control instead of trying to deal with a mean dog....but still that lady should do that, not ask your hubby for help. Just like some of the AD'ers say, also. The owner sure is really stupid for being mean to your husband, that's lame.

its ok.. but they are trying to help cuz the dog is loose.. what if it was kids that the dog terrorized .. what then?? sound like the dog is not friendly to be around with.. dang.. i would tie the dog to something for now till animal control come .. in case something happens? never know..

from what Defee said the owner sound hateful so who knows what the dog is capable of... so obviously for everyones safety... its not like they r going to tie the dog to the mailbox forever.. just temporary..

imagine if its a pitbull and it bite your kid and mangled your kids arm.. would you not want to tie the dog to something for temporary till animal control or police come?? I WOULD!
 
The point is the dog didn't attacked nobody, nobody was injured. And I would put everyone in the house where it's safe, I wouldn't even bothered go out and tie a dog to something. I would just call the police/animal control.

:eek3: that would be impossible because I've learned from experiences that you shouldn't put your hands anywhere near an aggressive dog's head or neck to avoid getting bitten or attacked, that may be why her husband almost got bitten in the face because he tied the dog's neck on a mail box pole...

i know and you are right never approached an aggressive dog.. they would attack you for sure... i have had bad expereinces with dog bites by pitbull and terrorizing kids and my pets.. i grew up around dogs all of my life as im animal lover.. so many strays come thru here.. most of them terrorized the kids and my cats.. i had to get broom to shoo it away and most of them growled at me. jeez...

oh yeah i had a dog (alaskan malumute that my dad got for me n my sisters) that terrorized me and my sisters, chased and killed my cats and EAT 4 calves. my bro killed the dog. he was very aggressive... i was only 11 at that time.. he had the look that he wanted to hurt me and my sisters.. my sisters were afraid of him.. i was never afraid of him cuz i showed him who is the boss.. ME.. not him! my mom was fear for my life..

funny thing.. my bro had a dog named Roni.. he was a pitbull... no one liked him.. but i put out my hand to him and he licked my hand.. my bro said impossible? roni never hurt me.. strange.. maybe he had the sense that im deaf... i dont know... but he was not good with other dogs... whew..

i will never have a pitbull as a pet as i see alot of things happening due to my sisters 2 pitbulls and my bro's dog roni.. bart was mean and tried to killed my 2 dogs foxy and jun jun.. bart was good for first 2 yrs.. we played with him and etc.. trained him too from when he was a puppy? but once gippy went into heat.. bart just turned aggressive and fight with my dogs .. we raised him right and everything.. i think its just that pitbull is an aggressive breed. ugh... never again...

Seq..The lady JUST moved into this area and she did not know any
body around here and she had never seen this dog before, she was
just terrified so she got into her car, drove over to where my husband's
shop is, thinking it may be our dog. He told her it wasnt and said he
knows who it belongs but he didnt know it was MEAN AT FIRST. He
roped that dog, tied it to owner's mailbox, hoping the owner will get it
but he happened to drive up, cussed him out and all....blaming the whole
thing on him...hubby had to explain the whole story to him but he was
still angry with him...geez...for what??? My hubby told him that his nasty
azz Lab growled at the lady and nearly bit him..and he will call the cops
next time the dog runs loose! ohhhh, that really pissed the owner off...

The moral of this whole thing.....ALLLL TYPES OF DOGS, NO MATTER
WHAT BREED, OR JUST MUTTS DO BITE, PERIOD.

its not, not when one is trying to detain a dog for a short period of time and that dog was g'damned lucky that no one shot it as i've just read few justified time frames when one could had the right to shoot the dog without animal control (hope it never happens though)

how many people have the nbr for animal control, yes just call the cops next time and have them deal with it, most of the times cops will shoot the dog if it attempts to attack the cops.

the owners of the offending lab can be taken to court for not keeping their dog leashed under control at all times doesn't matter if the leash broke... its the sole responsiblity of the owner to keep it detained at all times


its not animal cruelty when one ties a dog to the mailbox for a short period of time like this situtation as public safety was number one also

If the dog broke through my fence and started to attack my 3 dogs, (2 huge ones), or bit any of my family members, its dead dog walking-

1) its dead atfer my dogs are done defending themselves, I am sure hell not going to risk myself getting bit separating dogs

2) its dead by sure fire death sentence for any dog that attacks any human being in courts and the massive amounts of fines incured eek!

3) I can count more than my fingers on my hands how many of family members that will just kill the dog for being mean on their property out in the country.
 
My specialty as of late seems to be rabid Labs - Ive got one thats 4 y/o mean little bitch! Shee growls snarls and has bit me countless times. I have alpha rolled her, I have ear pinched, I have done it all. Usually she bites I put her in her place, then she's fine for the rest of the session, its a daily challenge seems like, but when she has a good day shes really an excellent dog. Ive just gotten the bite marks and bruises from her PMS, :lol:

Anyway should this happen again, put the dog in the truck, haul it down to the shelter tell them its the neighbor's dog its gotten out and they have no secure pen for it. Then the owners of the lab can go pay the spay/nueter fee plus the release fee to get their dog back - that is if they really want their dog back. And just remember - if you can control the head - you control where the body goes - just grab it by the collar and load it up. Labs do have bite power but their facial structure is such that it cannot do damage the same manner that a short snout dog would such as a Pit or a Boxer.

If I lived nearby I would mind dealing with the dog myself - as well as the owner.
