Why I am not allow to change phone number on VP-200

Why I am not allowed to change phone number on VP-200? I called to Sorenson Customer Support. They told me that I am not allowed to change my VP-200 number only if I moved different area then I can change number. I thought calling Sorenson and asked them to change phone number and now I can't why is that?

I need to change my phone number for a reason.
 
well.. here's what i know.. each house is given a specific phone number.. and generally, you can't change the phone number... *from what i've been told* Cell phones are a different story.

Again.. this is what i have been told.. so I don't know the specifics.
 
The VP numbers are fake numbers. They don't correspond to real world phone numbers, where there are rules where if you want to change your number something has to happen a certain way and THEN your phone company can change it. Changing it should be as simple as changing a file on a server somewhere.

But your phone company CAN change your phone number, that is the bottom line! If Sorenson won't change it, it's probably because they're setting the rules, not the people they serve (i.e. everyone who uses VRS).

Oh. I wish I can change my VP-200 number. I guess I am stuck with number on VP-200.
 
I don't know anything about VRS company rules, so I'm asking a question.

Is it possible for BartSimpson to close out his current account, and then open a new account using a new phone number? That would be different from changing his number on a current account.

BartSimpson, does your VRS contract say anything about phone number rules?
 
That does not make any sense at all. I moved to different state and I got different number. When I got married and moved to different city, I still got the number changed. I never heard of not being able to change numbers. Maybe try calling the tech support in Utah. The people are more willing and I can talk to them since I know the Lead Support.

I don't remember if they told me about Phone number things. I don't think they did. So I am contacting Sorenson Tech Support and asking question about it. I really want get my VP-200 number changed.

That what they told me. They said if moved different house or states then can change number. But I live in same house and I want to change the number that what I mean.
 
Bart.. call them.. ask if you can close your current account and open a new one with a different number. They may allow it.

They said They can't do anything. Also they said if someone keeping calling and bother me and I should press "busy" that all they can said.

I don't think they meant "can't"; I think they meant "won't". :mad:

Sorry, I think you're getting bad business from the "customer no-service" department.
 
You cannot change phone numbers only to vp... It must me similar with phone numbers ... both vp and phone numbers must be same...

My Phone number that I used for TTY before is disconnected now I use only VP number. I want change my VP number be same with my sidekick text message.

u went to different place because u live in different house


different house hold different numbers...

that why

and that bart.. he/she still living in same house and not moving to different place.. that why he/she cant change the phone numbers
 
Bart.. in general.. they won't change a phone number to one that's already in service.. And you can't change a VP number to your Sk number.. because each product has it's own phone number.. Plus SK and VP are not with the same company.

Every time you move, they have to give you a different number.. because you're not living in the same house... Each house has it's own phone number that's unique to that house.

That's why your number changed each time you moved. But if you live in the same house for a while, they won't change your phone number.
