I have my laptop connected to BlackBerry 7290 through Internet via dial-up. :)

This is great when traveling all the way to Orlando, as it's great for checking my bank account, do instant messenging, etc. while in the road.

(Gonna have to get off my BlackBerry Modem and get back in to wireless broadband.)

can you provide more details? Are you using voice minutes to dial up to an ISP for internet? who is your wireless provider, and who is your dial up ISP? isn't doing this horribly expencive?

Well, that's news to me...

I still have a Talkabout pager...hey no laughing  ....it still belongs to the federal agency...

Ha, I am way ahead both of you.

I use my Nokia 6820 via bluetooth as modem first time with my laptop :D

Okay, we'll race over modem via EDGE to see who we get webpage first

Let race!

I hope u beat me that time since I beat you for wifi range, checker, chess, bull machine, and drink race.

Oh...not in my thread...

Well anyway I have a question... If anyone connected their pager or cell phone to the laptop and use it as a modem, how's the experience using your pager/cell phone as a modem?

I have used my T-Mobile 8700g as a modem... since 8700 has EDGE, it's much faster than GPRS on the 72xx Blackberries. My upload/download speeds are about 150 kbps which is about 3x faster tha dial up. When I go to the airport, I can save money and use my BB to connect rather than paying $10 for the airport's WiFi.

Already got the bill, it's still $29.99 plus tax. Yeah it IS free. I used the BB as a modem two bills ago... it showed "12.6 Whenever Megabytes" on my bill which is the data streaming I used through the modem" :deal: Still $29.99. Guess you were misinformed, or you have the wrong plan.

Correct! I have been use unlimited data plan with no change and I look up on bills. I get as much as 40+MB a month :D

It's simple drain from data plan into the computer as internet. Oh, how fun!

Don't bluetooth drain the battery life if you use it often?

Yeah - but I'm not using bluetooth - I connect the pager directly to the laptop via USB cables, and the nice thing about it is, it charges the battery and transfers data at the same time... so the battery will not drain.
