Yes, thank you bott :) By chance do you know if it can kill two bunnies? What I find is generally that it is not dangerous to humans... but nothing on them... this one shows up on the morning that two bunnies closest to it suddenly passes...

I don't think so. Garden spiders are insect predators. If it's hot there like here, the bunnies probably died from the heat.

I would suggest you to contact any local university that has entomology department. I'm pretty sure the professor would be more than happy enough to tell you the whole story about it

Botts is right its a garden spider and they are harmless. We've had them around here and while I usually kill spiders I leave those alone just to see what patterns they weave in their web next.

That's sad... hmm... think I will add another ice bottle for the rest then... thank you...
I do not kill spiders if they are outside where they belong... every thing is food for something :) keeps thing balanced leaving them be..

OMG....I've never seen a spider that big.

Lol the one that crawled out from under my bathroom door... well not sure which was bigger... just glad this one is outside where it belongs lol

one of the species, look at the leg pattern.

Looking it up... the web would be right... but all the st Andrews seem to have striped legs when they have a yellow body...
But a lot of the st Andrews have very neat webs... I wonder if this one will do webs more than just a zipper pattern...

Ive seen some really fat garden spiders, first time I seen one I was 37ish? Captured it and took it to work (Vector Control) and turned out to be a harmless garden spider thats been eating very well.

When I was growing up, I saw one similar out here. It was completely black but had a bright green stripe on its back... never saw another one though...
