From the same link:
"Earlier in the evening, police officers turned their backs on Mayor de Blasio when he entered the hospital.
At 9:40 p.m., hundreds of officers lined a driveway at Woodhull Hospital as two N.Y.P.D. ambulances pulled slowly away, with the bodies of the slain officers inside.
In silence, the officers saluted, and the ambulances, followed by a police caravan, turned onto the street and drove away to take the bodies to the medical examiner’s office."
My father was trying to explain to me about this story earlier. I didn't understand the reason why the officers are trying to shun the mayor ... what is the reason?
Because of lack of support from mayor for NYPD for the past several incidents. NYPD didn't take it well when they got criticized by Mayor. Quite frankly, I believe NYPD is a bunch of disrespectful thugs when they don't fix themselves.
it's time to change NYPD culture for good.
So you agree with the shooter then?
on what exactly?
Your last sentence
that was not the shooter's intention. his intention is currently unknown.
in case you're confused and misguided, my intention was to demand for a change in NYPD culture thru reforms, increased oversights, and new laws.
Mayor de Blasio stated that he welcomed a peaceful non-violent protest afforded by Amendment One. NYPD did not appreciate it. Cops turning their backs on Mayor de Blasio is an example of NYPD's decades of history disrespecting and disdaining people's civil rights.
so are you saying you don't appreciate these people's right to free speech and protest?
No, I was asking if you agreed with the shooter.
and I was asking you exactly what. my post has made no mention of a shooter.
ah of course.... only you would read it that way. I'm not sure how as there is no mention of shooter in my post... and I was explaining to you why did officers turn their backs on Mayor de Blausio.I told you, your last sentence. You said something about the NYPD needing to be changed for good. It could be read that you agreed with the shooter's intentions.
source please? Those intentions are known now .. he shot two NYPD officers in retaliation for Garner.
ah of course.... only you would read it that way. I'm not sure how as there is no mention of shooter in my post... and I was explaining to you why did officers turn their backs on Mayor de Blausio.
I can't really figure out how and why exactly would you think I would like a change in NYPD culture to be done thru gunning down officers. but then again... I shouldn't be surprised by your offensive remark since it's just you silly ole' Steinhauer with a contorted mind.
so... this shooter with a contorted mind... was from Georgia.... coincidence? I hope I don't see you around here...
source please?
and is there any way we can keep this thread civil without turning it into some tiresome farce? let's keep it clean and factual.
Well, this thread is about a shooting of two NYPD Officers. Your statement that there needed to be a change "for good" in the NYPD in a thread about two getting shot could be read that you agreed with the shooter.
That's why I asked. You answered. Thanks.
